Real Union / Brazil — Union News + Copa America!

Hello everyone!!

Since the world cup has been on, I am now re-addicted to FM! So have managed to play alot more than I usually would have!

Shame about England yesterday but am sure they can still qualify and good luck to all the teams playing today!

Also good luck to Spain, and hopefully we can get our world cup run back on track!

———————————————————————————————————-

Ok so as you know I am now the new manager of the Brazil national side. I am really new to international management but since the world cup is on I thought I would give it a shot!

My team is 99% regen players with only Coutinho left as a ‘real life’ player, so bear that in mind. Having said that Brazil as you would expect, have a pretty terrific side with one or two Real Union names amongst them!

The squad was picked before I joined and we are in the quarter final stage of the Copa America. I had very little time to asses my team and only had a day to prepare for this game.  Straight into the fire as they say!

My tactics would be the same as Real Union, as the fundamentals of good counter and attacking football should translate well to the Brazilian national team. My squad selection was based on the ‘ideal’ players rather than reputation.

Quarter Final Game :

So a good start, I expected a little more goals but since I have only been here a day I excused that! I have changed alot in terms of the formation so my players will take time to a just, and also get to know each other and me. Rodrigo is Robinho style player, very quick and gifted but a little sellfish.

He scored twice but could have had a few more. But the team played well, we dominated possession and looked very Brazil like in terms of always going forward looking for goals, which is just my style!

Semi Final Game :

The final at my first attempt! That said I was expected to win the competition so nothing surprising really. Am not sure how we didnt win by more and on the face of it looks lucky but we created enough chances to win 3 football matches!

Felix is in my Castaignos role (Yes named after the great man!) and seems to enjoy it. I had Countinho in it first game but Felix has a little more about him and was able to influence the game as I wanted.

Their goal was very poor defence, but we reacted well and won a penalty when our best player Toninho a striker from Juventus was fouled. Up stepped our captain Souza from the same to club to slot the penalty home and send us to the final!

Its Argentina and a game we cant lose! I maybe sacked if we lose the game so am already feeling the pressure of the job!

The Final Game :

Yay!

I have been here less than a week and already have my first trophy! I knew the game would be tough and it was as both teams are very evenly matched.

I mentioned Toninho in the last game and he proved to be the hero, scoring twice in a 4 minute spell. To compare him to a real life player I would say he is like Higuain, very well rounded and scores all types of goal.

They scored just after half time and I felt they were going to get back into the game, so I took of my attacking midfielder and replaced him with a centre back, playing 5-3-2 with Flavio (from Real Union!) as the defensive midfielder. It worked perfectly as we saw the last 20 minutes out and claimed the win and of course the trophy!

The media now love me as do the players! So the perfect start to my new job, I also get to scout Brazilian players and build good relationships with them so all in all am enjoying the little time I have spent as Brazil manager!

Next up is world cup qualification and as you know the South American section is one of the toughest, but being Brazil we SHOULD! qualify, but as you have seen in real life anything can happen in football!

Ok so the news on my team!

We have had some ins and outs but am still confident in my team as we prepare for a mammoth season being in 6 different competitions!

Plus we need to defend our titles that we worked so hard to get last year!

Transfers Out :

So I sold Saul Herranz gaining a small profit of £2 million pounds. I felt he was never going to be good enough to replace Castaignos so I cashed in on him and looked for another player to fill our legendary Dutch man’s role!

I just remebered about loaning players for cash! And seeing that we have some talented young players it’s a nice way to earn a few millon from it! They gain experience and you get payed for it!

Weber our talented German is at Dortmund and they payed a hefty £4.8 million to have him on loan! I wanted Saenz (A youth product from our acadamy) to play in Spain, to get to grips with it so loaned him to Sociedad.

Players In :

Sergey Zhdanovich

Ok, please welcome the first ever Belarus player to sign for Real Union!

I scouted the globe looking for a Castaignos understudy until I discovered this player who was at Genoa in Italy. He is only 22 and almost mirrors the stats of our captain and he should improve with age. Although not good enough yet to replace him I felt he would do so in the future.

I payed a club record fee of £28 million pounds something I dont often do. Desperation? Probably but that role is so key to my formation that I need a world class player to fill it, and I feel that Sergey Zhdanovich can do it!

Everything else is just the same, again had to re-a-range a few coaches who left for pastures new but replaced them with better coaches which was nice!

So thats everything for the new Real Union season, am looking forward to winning as many of the 6 trophies as I can but la liga and the champions league are my main aim, anything else is a bonus really!

Thanks for reading!!

    Hi Ana
One week, one trophy. not a bad way to start a new job :) Sergey Zhdanovich looks like a great signing and will do you well I’m sure. Good luck with the nes season and by the way I like your banners.

Firstly I’ll have to agree with Kevin. Sweet banners! A nice touch.

Impressive job in guiding brazil to the copa america title. With such limited time to gel with the squad it’s really hard to get a team to play and win consecutive matches.

PS. I’ve looked up Castaignos on my Basingstoke game and he does look like he’ll be able to turn into a pretty good player. Maybe I’ll sign him when i reach a higher league.

Well done Ana, the Copa America is always very difficult to win and you did it right away, quite an achievement! The youngster from Belarus looks mighty talented, I’m sure he will fit in perfectly in your squad. Best of luck!

@ Kevin — Ha! Yeah, but we have a really talented squad. Hopefully Zhdanovich can step up and be the player I need!!

@ Majk — Thanks! They took me about 2 mins to make but help split it up a bit! Yeah, they took to the formation well, but previous coach didnt pick any wingbacks so we had a small problem!

Castaignos is fantastic hopefully you can sign him one day! :)

@ Johnny — Thank you! Yeah hopefully he can settle down well but he has a big price tag to live up too! But so far am pleased with him.

@ Sears — Thanks! Yeah 6 would be ideal, but we also must play alot more games but if we can stay injury free we could have a great chance at it!

@ Lye — Thanks, I was pleased to win the copa America but we had to really! Otherwise I could have faced a quick exit!

Hi Ana, great start with Brazil, coming in straight in and winning a trophy is tough, so well done! The new signing from Belarus looks like a good player, he’ll have a tough job replacing Castaignos, but hopefully he can get even better and do really well.

    Thanks Laxeyman!

I agree but Castaignos in now 31, so getting into the twlight of his career. I hope my new signing can step into the role but it will be tough.
