Football Manager 2012 out before Christmas!! New features announced

That’s right guys, SI have announced that the new Football Manager 2012 will be released before Christmas. We’re getting close and I don’t know about you but I’m quite excited…in fact, let’s look at what SI had to say and talk about the FM 2012 new features.

Brand new features taken from the official Football Manager 2012 website:

New & improved key features for Football Manager 2012:

Manage Anywhere, Anytime – the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season — meaning you don’t have to decide on which nations are playable at the start of your career.

Transfers & Contracts – significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren’t prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives.

Scouting improvements – using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report was devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season.

3D Match Improvements – new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras — «Behind Goal» and «Director Cam» as well as all other camera angles being reversible — meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game.

Intelligent Interface – a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens.

Tone – a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things – be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 5 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone.

Brand New Tutorial – standing separate from the main game, a mode to help new players find their way around the game easily, whilst also offering tips to experienced managers on how to get the most out of the game, as well as a new in-game “how to” system.

On top of these key innovations, there are lots of areas of the game that have had huge improvements, such as the media system, press conferences, the youth system, newgens, the social networking options, friendlies, international management and many more which will be detailed in a series of video blogs over the coming months, alongside more information about Football Manager 2012.

On top of these key innovations, there are over 800 new features making huge improvements, such as the media system, press conferences, the youth system, newgens, the social networking options, friendlies, international management and many more which will be detailed in a series of video blogs over the coming months, alongside more information about Football Manager 2012.

What did Miles Jacobson have to say? (quote below found on SI forums)

“We’re delighted to finally be able to start talking about Football Manager 2012” said Miles Jacobson, Studio Director at Sports Interactive. “It’s another year of evolution, with some revolution thrown in for good measure so we’re pretty sure our dedicated communities, and hopefully lots of new people too, get to play and enjoy the game when it’s released later in the year.”

Now you know I don’t do things by halves, so below are some screenshots and videos of Football Manager 2012 to wet your pallet. If this isn’t enough to get you excited I don’t know what is.

Stay tuned for more news as and when its announced guys, let me know your thoughts on the new features and if you’re looking forward to the new game. SI have officially announced Football Manager 2012 will be released before Christmas but if other years are anything to go by we may even be looking at November (obviously this is my opinion alone.)

This puts me in an awkward position! I was seriously considering not getting FM12 but now this anywhere, anytime feature is making me think again!

Well knowing SI, when they say something they usually back it up with the goods so I’m very optimistic mate.

You are absolutely right Darren my comment is perhaps too negative.
I looked at the footballmanager.com and saw that you would be able to manage in over 50 countries. I was initially very excited at the prospect of new countries to manage but after checking fm2011 you are already able to manage in 51 countries. Was hoping for more african countries to manage.

I’m not sure whats happening with the leagues and countries to be honest…that list may not be finalised yet.

there are always websites to add the extra leagues anyway! I added Malta to my game :)

David: you are correct but you still have to very critical if you want an update which is accurate mostly because SI have not done the necessary research for the some clubs and the editor is limited.
I must admit I use some updates but most of them (no disrespect) are rather poor and unstable.

    Hi Darren,

Thanks for the information. Now we have FM12 to look forward since it is officially announced now. Looking forward to the detail features on it. Scouting features will be attractive to me and whatever what they roll out, I will be pre-ordering it before it’s release.

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 14:31

Yeah, it will be great and we’ll be looking for more info in the mean time to keep you informed.

Asked you about this thursday (on my work email)…and here is the news!!

All the features sound top notch…must admit was unsure of how to better the previous game…the new report and scouting system is pleasing to hear…and the manage anywhere anytime is a most welcome new feature…Tone sounds interesting as it is sure to add yet more depth to proceedings…

Personally I was happy with the addition of agents fees etc in FM2011 (I know alot of people grumbled it was too basic) so the update negiotiation tools look like building on last years addition….

    Awesome!

I’d put my finger on a end of Novemeber release…possibly before.

      17 августа, 2011 at 18:52

definitley not. if previous games are to go by always comes out end of october beginning of november

    15 августа, 2011 at 15:19

I agree Tom, the new features sound promising and as you mentioned the scout and coach reports seem far more detailed and that can only be a good thing. If there’s more news we’ll be releasing it straight away.

Is there going to be the Argentinian 4th division?

Fabbiani is already playing in of the weakest of division 2……..:)

I would like realistic things to happen like this….:)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbu2pXokEPo

Football fans jumping the fence to bull their players into putting more «attitude»……

Looking foward to ply FM 2012!

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 16:51

I don’t know to be honest as they haven’t released which leagues will be added yet, Knowing SI they don’t like the controversial and bad side of the sport and don’t promote it through the game so I can’t see that ever happening.

  7. Sibo

    15 августа, 2011 at 15:33

The tone and scouting improvements sound nice, as does the Manage anywhere, anytime. Whilst none are massively revolutionary, I think they will make the game much better.

Also, is it just me, or does the «Director Camera» look like «TV Camer» with nicer views for set pieces? Having said that it is probably the one I will use by the looks of things. :D

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 16:53

I agree Sibo, none are like when they first introduced 3D match engine etc. However, I do feel like next years game will be much tougher than previous versions. With much more in depth team talks and media interaction it could be tougher to find the right response to certain situations. I quite like the ‘Director Camera’ idea, lets just hope they perfect it.

      • Sibo

        15 августа, 2011 at 17:51

Yes, I just hope they really get the team talks down to a tee, otherwise I just forsee a lot of «Passionate: «Do it for the fans!»» in my FM future! :D

        • Darren Smith

          15 августа, 2011 at 18:24

Got love the passionate team talks, surely you can’t go wrong with that…unless that puts too much pressure on the players…ahhh I foresee a real headache.

          • Daniel

            16 августа, 2011 at 01:35

Ha there will be no boring same old teams talks now looks like it will be passionate and me probably getting angry at my west ham team for not hanging on to leads again followd by whats happened lads its only Man city go batter them hehe :)

          • Darren Smith

            16 августа, 2011 at 11:47

            lol, sounds about right :)

  8. Dan

    15 августа, 2011 at 15:51

Woohoo! I’ve wanted a new team talk tree for ages! And the manage anywhere any time is a great feature, now we just need someone crazy enough to try and win every competition in every available nation! :D

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 16:55

Yep, lots of new gadgets for our new toy lol ;) I’m sure someone will go for all leagues, but rest assured it won’t be me. :)

  9. Kevin

    15 августа, 2011 at 16:38

Looks exciting — I hope I’m smart enough to play it :)

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 17:00

I’m sure you will be Kevin, but it’ll take some patience as always to adjust to the new features.

    Looks good :)

    15 августа, 2011 at 16:48

I don’t really understand the tone feature, will you be able to say what you want for the team talk? The scouting reports will be really good.

    • Darren Smith

      15 августа, 2011 at 17:02

You can’t literally say what you want mate, what they mean is there are more layers to the team talks now. Whereas before you said ‘do it for the fans’ or ‘you can win this’…now every team talk available can be said in a different tone of voice like ‘aggressive’ or ‘passionate’.

  12. Plobdork

    16 августа, 2011 at 11:07

WOW thanks alot johnny now im not going to be able to sleep for months knowing that this is coming out soon. :)
the matchday graphics look amazing i like the transfer market and when it says manage anywhere does it meen there more countries aswell???

    • Darren Smith

      16 августа, 2011 at 11:49

Glad you’re excited Plobdork…its me Darren who made the post by the way. As for the manage anywhere I think they may be referring to the fact that you can add different countries to your game half way through or as and when you want.

    16 августа, 2011 at 13:02

It looks great I have already pre ordred it as it is out on november 21st looking foward to it does anyone have any news about a demo for it

    • Darren Smith

      16 августа, 2011 at 18:37

It certainly does look good mate, no official date has been announced for the games release as far as we know mate…that date mentioned will just be a prediction but not from SI themselves.

  14. Sears

    16 августа, 2011 at 20:05

All features look interesting, but I particularly like the new tone feature…. Thrilled that SI have developed this aspect of the game :)

Also delighted that you can choose to manage in any league whenever you want… Terrific new feature and one I will exploit as much as possible! Personally I like the the features and I can’t wait until FM12 is released!

    • Darren Smith

      16 августа, 2011 at 21:19

I agree Sears, adding tone of voice to all media and team talks is a great idea and makes the game more realistic.

  15. Vinners

    17 августа, 2011 at 23:56

I just thought of a feature whilst playing :L I’d love to be able to say that I DON’T want a player to take a set-piece especially for throw ins. I hate it when my fullback takes a throw in, in the opposing third and then they counter down that wing :/

    • Darren Smith

      18 августа, 2011 at 11:44

They will probably never do that as you can counter such problems by picking a player that is playing and a backup …but I know what you mean.
