Due to licensing issues some competitions and clubs have fake names in FM 2016. For instance all the clubs in the German Bundesliga have fake names, the English Premier League is called «Premier Division», the German national team has fake players and so does the Japanese one. All these issues can be solved easily with our FM 2016 Real Names Fix, all you have to do is download it and then install it with our step by step instructions.
Get real names in Football Manager 2016, replacing «Premier Division» with «Premier League«, «Champions Cup» with «UEFA Champions League» and much more. Several real competition names are included in this fix, along with real award names and real players in the Germany national team, South Korea national team and Japan national team.
After you install this fix you have to restart FM 2016 and you should be able to see the real names in your game. They should look like this:

How to install FM 2016 real names fix
1. Navigate to Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1600>lnc and delete the «all» folder. (Make a backup of it in case you want to revert to the original fake names at some point). Do the same thing with the «all» folder in Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1601>lnc.
After patch 16.3, you will also have to apply the fix to the following folder: Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1630>lnc.
2. Download our file, which is a zip archive, then you will have to extract it to this folder: Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1600>lnc and also to Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1601>lnc.
3. That’s it, start or re-start your game and enjoy!
If you spot any more teams or competitions in FM 2016 that need name changing, please let me know and I will release a new version of this download to fix them.

On Steam on Mac you have to do this:

As far as I know on a Mac you should find this folder: Macintosh HD/Users/»your computers name»/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam Apps/common/Football Manager 16/data/db/1600/lnc

Sorry, I’m not at home until Saturday and I can’t test. See if there’s a new folder in data>db after the update (possibly 1610), if so you will have to do the same thing in there with the lnc>all folder.

I dont see Inc folder under /Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam Apps/common/Football Manager 16/data/db/1600/lnc. In fact I dont event have Football manager 16 folder under that path. Anyone knows how to fix this issue? I have reinstalled the game like 3 times

Have you tried using the «search» feature on your Mac, you might find the folder. I don’t have a Mac so can’t do much more to help.

The German national team doesn’t have the real names after applying the fix. This is even after new callups are done for the national team. Is there anything else that needs to be done to fix it?

One thing though: Japan doesn’t seem to be calling up real players for me. South Korea has a mix of fake players and real players while Germany works perfectly and has called up only real players. Any idea why that is? Is it a waiting game and Japan will call up real players next time?

There’s nothing wrong with South Korea, you probably have a small database loaded and that’s why the team has only a few real players. Japan is a tricky one, don’t have a solution yet but I will try something.

Ahh, so Japan just isn’t working at the moment and it’s just not for me? (If so fair enough).
I am playing with a large database in my current save, but only European leagues loaded. Dunno if that does it with South Korea.
Very happy to see Germany working so well :) (with all due respect to Japan and South Korea, Germany really is the main thing for me with this fix — both club names and national side).

Just noticed another thing (sorry to be bombarding you with comments here): I’ve now got FIFA Ballon D’or and World Golden Ball. The World Golden Ball seem to be the actual Ballon D’or (looking at who’s won it in game). I might be mistaken though so correct me if I’m wrong.

Yeah the Ballon D’or is there. But I think (please do correct me if I’m wrong) that the names of the two major world’s best player awards are switched.
The one called World Golden Ball in the game (with your fix applied) seems to be Ballon D’or for two reasons: a) the list of winners is identical to the real life Ballon D’or and b) the winners of this award has been voted for (says how many voting points they’ve recieved).
Whereas the one called Ballon D’or in your fix seems to be the other major award (can’t remember the actual name of it) since there is no voting for this award and the winners list isn’t consistent with the real life Ballon D’or award.
Hope I’m making sense.

That is hella good service, mate ;) Looks great with Ballon D’or now and World Player of The Year. Will have to wait a wee bit for the next Japanese national team call up to see if that has been fixed (but I take your word for it).
I feel bad for telling you about a missing name and then writing a mistake when correcting it, but it’s KanalSport Divisionen not Kanal Sport Divisionen >.< Sorry.

Fair enough. Might as well add that the Superliga (top Danish tier) is officially called Alka Superliga so you can get that in the next update as well :)
Again wanna add that I think you’re doing a really great job on this fix. It makes the game that much more enjoyable with the real national sides and club and competitions names. I mean what’s the World Cup without the likes of Neuer and Müller.

pirated versions have all wrong player names…amazing fact is that when u search the real player name on the top search bar…a funny name arises in the search result and the player with the funny name has all the real player stats…e.g. search Petr Cech … u get Bio Kalogeracos… with awesome goalkeeping stats and is a 33 yr old Czech… There must be a way to fix this ?

I’m sorry but I can’t understand what’s going wrong there, never encountered a similar situation. Normally it should work just fine, competition names and everything else that is regarded by this fix should not change while the game is running.

hey. I installed everything but the Portuguese teams haven’t changed their names… I check the competitions and yes the Champions naming is there…Germany is fine…but not Benfica or any of the other clubs in that league — the club logo is still the «fake» one. And yes, it’s an official game, not a pirate copy. Can you help please?

If you’re talking about player names, that should be because you are using a pirated version of the game. This download does not fix that, nor it intends to.

Not having any success with this (Window 10). I’ve deleted the ‘all’ folder in all three destinations and extracted the downloaded file via WinRAR, but doesn’t seem to have changed anything. Any ideas?

Make sure you have the extracted «all» folder in Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1600>lnc
Also, if you have updated your game with patch 1.3 you should put the extracted «all» folder here as well: Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>Football Manager 2016>data>db>1630>lnc
If you do that it should work.

I have done that and it work but after the first season it change back to fake name
