Ana – FM 2011 : Sporting CP, Season 2035

Hi everyone!

First off a massive apology for not being around commenting or posting, but due to an upgrade to our phone line we have had no internet for the past few days. Plus the weather has been gorgeous so have been spending alot of time outside! :)

So here is an overdue post on my challenege and hopefully the club I will lead to the european champions league Sporting Club Portugal.

For those interested I turned down the chance to manage at Ajax, as I have managed them on a  previous game and have never managed in Portugal so wanted something a bit different.

—————————

So I was out of work for a club job for almost two years then both Ajax and Sporting came calling!

I took the latter and as you can see they are a pretty successful club, good transfer budget to work with and a good wage budget also.

Star Player — Angel Peinado

Easily my best player and one of my highest earners but has dual nationality!!

Yes he has played for Argentina youth but he is also part Spanish so guess who called him up for his first cap! ;)

So now I am on his favourite people list! I will try to build my team around him and for those who havent guessed he is a centre forward.

Transfers Out — First Window

So as always a huge clear out off over payed, over hyped has beens!

The transfer rules in Portugal are very relaxed in terms of foreign players, but I still wanted to sell most of them. Not much more to add except we reaped alot of money in.

Transfers In — First Window

So I bought a few new players, the standout was my £9 million signing who I will post below.

Delgado is a goalkeeper I found in my Spain u19’s so managing a nation does have some perks!

I also plucked two players from the USA with Coffie being an exciting striker from Ghana.

Zeferino Muzadi

Henry Coffie

Muzadi is from Angola and is a winger, seeing as I will use my formation from Cruzeiro using a 4-2- 3-1, Muzadi will play wide right. Coffie is a promising talent but I payed a fairly hefty price of £3.5 million so hopefully he can develop well.

Super Taca vs Porto

So we won this game against our big rivals Porto, the Super Taca seems to be like the Spainsh super cup or the community trophy in England.

My first trophy in charge and a late goal from our centreback from a freekick was enough to seal the win.

Results First Half Of The Season

So first impressions of the league and its easy to see why Sporting and Porto have been so dominant as were are miles ahead of the rest of the teams.

We lead the league after 15 games but Porto are right on our heels but beating them away was a massive bonus, and the goal was almost an exact copy of the one scored in the Super Taca!

Same scorer too to give us the early advantage.

January Signing

Fernando

So I made only was transfer deal in the January window buying this excellent transfer listed centre back for £7 million. Big money again but I do feel he is worth the outlay with his power and tackling, fairly quick also but I do like him!

The Champions League Results

So we did have to qualify and we met Shaktar but thankfully we managed to get through and into the group stages.

Mixed results beating Inter then losing in Italy to a late goal and two draws against PSV but we crept through due to our goal difference and after beating Roma at home by three goals to one, we imploded in Italy again losing by an embarrassing six goals to one.

Seven four in total but not good enough so my champions league dream is over for this season.

Final League Results Of The Season

So we were crowned champions by fourteen points which was great! We are very free scoring but we defended really well also, a few dropped points with another diasaster at Braga losing three one but didnt cost us anything but a bit of pride!

I feel the league will always be a two horse race between ourselves and Porto and history is on my side as both clubs have won the league for the past 12 seasons this was our first after three Porto titles in a  row.

Final Player Ratings Of The Season

Star Man — Muzadi

So my big money signings really delivered with Muzadi topping the average ratings in both scoring and creating.

Peinado scored 36 in 37 a fantastic return as my solo striker Allende also did very well playing upfront or as an inside left, we still have  few foreign players so I really want to add some young Portugese players but from our acadamy as Sporting have a great acadamy in real life, Goncalves is one I added a promising acadamy player but I will try to add a few more.

So thats it!

So its great to back in a league where I dont have to try and explain the rules or anything, just a nice format that everyone can understand!

My aim is winning the champions league with Sporting so if takes me twenty years then so be it, I really like this club for some reason.

So next time I will post my Spainish progress in the european championships, but am not sure if I should do an individual post or combine it with my Sporting post. So any thoughts just let me know, as always thanks for reading and I should hopefully get my next update out in a few days!!

Great season. When I initially saw Muzadi’s circle section I wasn’t particularly convinced about him apart from his superb pace and acceleration, but clearly he was an excellent player for you. Looks like Coffie had a good first season too, you’ve got time to develop him still too so he could turn into a great player.

      Thanks!

I agree, at first I thought I payed too much for Muzadi but he was pretty pivotal in our excellent season.

Hopefully as I payed a fair bit for Coffie, but he did well in the games I played him. I used him wide left cutting inside but I think I may just keep him as a central striker for now.

Good to have you back after such a long time. Portugal’s a nice place to manage (i guess). I don’t think it’ll take too long to with the champions league. All da best.

    Hey Ana
Nice to see you back. I will hopefully not take too long to win the Champions League, I think you can do it in the next two-three seasons. Muzadi and Peinando were amazing for you! I think you should combine the posts.

      Hi and thanks!

Three seasons may be very difficult as it takes me a few years to set the team and club up the way I want! I have set a ten year plan and even that may be too ambious.

I will combine both just means a little more reading! :)

Congrats on the title Ana, you won it quite convincingly on the very first season. The Champions League run could have been better but I’m sure that it will be a lot nicer next season as you will surely bring in some more good players during the summer. Good luck for the European Championship, looking forward to that! :)

      Thanks Johnny!

Dissapointing champions league end losing 6-1, not sure what happened we just seem to freeze!

But roll on next season and hopefully we can learn from the mistakes we made!

Thanks, my dream job at Spain so hopefully I wont let the nation down!! :)

    Ana,

Firstly great story, has taken me a while to catch up but great work so far!!

Great results in your first year, too bad that you didn’t go to Holland though :) The Roma result must’ve hurt…

    • Ana Garcia

      5 июля, 2011 at 21:57

      Sorry Desmo!

Its just I did an Ajax story a few games ago so wanted to try something new, I did enjoy Holland though! ;)

It did, losing 6-1 is never easy but it just spurs me on to do better next time!

Incredible post as always Ana! I love your star player, he has ridiculous stats and the big money signing was up there also. Dominated the league and to be honest your probably closer than that 6-1 second leg loss to Roma shows in Europe. With such players it must surely be your defence that needs a revamp before Europe is one step closer. You’ve really made a journey of this story and its nice to see you finally land at a club you really like…hope to see you winning more soon. :)

      5 июля, 2011 at 22:01

      Thanks Darren!!

Peinado is amazing easily the best player in Portugal, will struggle to keep him though as the big clubs are after him.

Agreed Roma were clinical but we just froze, 6-1 was a little unfair but we didnt deserve to progress.

Defence does need a little work, especially at full back and would like a few extra midfield players.

      Will do my best! :)

Peinado is a great poacher and the raw pace Muzadi must have killed the full backs.
Well done in the League and good luck in the Champions League.
( Btw I think you should combine the posts. )

    • Ana Garcia

      5 июля, 2011 at 22:03

      Thanks!

I did play Peinado as a poacher and Muzadi’s pace always causes problems!

      I will! :)

Great season Ana, your Sporting side are easily the best in Portugal, and the league table shows that, complete and utter domination :) Shame about the Champions League, but hopefully you can do better next season, good luck!

    • Ana Garcia

      5 июля, 2011 at 22:04

      Thanks Laxeyman!

At the moment I really like my Sporting side but Porto are fairly good also but we just didnt drop too many points.

Agreed, but we didnt deserve it after that trip to Italy!

Hehe Ana I am starting a new game and going through the Pentagon, I am starting with Praiense :D in the Second Division South

Portugal has some nice rules, only 8 trained in nation and 30 slots to register players (though doesn’t have the English rule of unlimited U20s though)

Take your time building your team, you have signed some amazing players, and you already have a super striker and extremely explosive winger :D

Good to hear! Would love to hear how you are getting on with it!

I agree, Portugal does have a very relaxed ruling on foreign players I like it too! :)

Time is on my side as this is my last trophy to win, just need to keep buying amazing players!!

    Hi Ana,

Congratualtions on winning the title in your first season in europe, and by such a massive margin aswell. I think your star players are amazing, Peinado has some incredible technical attributes and his goalscoring record this season has proved how good he is. I also like Muzadi and i think he was well worth the money you paid for him!
Good luck next season, i think you will have a good run in the champions league!

      Thanks Mike!

I was very pleased to win the league and to stop Porto’s mini dominace! Hopefully the first of many!!

Peinado is amazing, but all credit goes to the previous manger! At first I though I overspent for Muzadi but he proved me wrong with an outstanding debut season so was verry happy! :)

      Thanks, will do my best!!

    • Ana Garcia

      5 июля, 2011 at 22:12

I will but seeing as I have played more season than I have posted it may be a little complicated.

But I can tell you I am currently fifth in the overall top managers at the moment, which isnt too bad considering the leagues I have managed in!

      :)

Well done Ana, I’m looking forward to how you develop Sporting! How is Portugal’s coefficient holding up these days? It seems to fluxuate pretty wildly in different saves.

    • Ana Garcia

      7 июля, 2011 at 19:21

      Thanks! :)

Not great we are behind the usual of Spain, England, France, Germany and Italy with Russia, Holland and Turkey also ahead of our league.

    6 июля, 2011 at 20:50

Everything has been pretty much said, so congrats on winning the title Ana!

Btw, who’s currently the richest team in your save?

    • Ana Garcia

      7 июля, 2011 at 19:27

      Thanks Sears! :)

At the moment Barcelona from Real Madrid and then Arsenal but all are seperated by a few million.
