Pickard: Valencia CF — Pre-Season & Tranfers

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to my Valencia CF save…Last time I introduced you to the team, tactics and also the pre-season friendlies I had lined up for my side. In this post the title explains all, yes pre-season results and transfers. So let’s go…

Pre-season Results

To you these results look like we had a mixed pre-season but, infact the two loses were down to most of the team being on International Duty and me having to make a team with many youth players in.  The tactic I was using was getting better every match and I was confident we could make a good start to the La Liga season. Now for the Transfers…

Transfers Out

Only one out, Vicente is now 29 years old and with me wanting to play youngster Jordi Alba more and also having Mata, Dominguez and at a push Mathieu all be left wingers it was time for Valencia CF to cash in on this long servant. I originally offered him out for 9m but both Liverpool and Bayern Munich came in with 6.75m offers and he decided the Premiership was for him.

Transfers In

Could this be a first for Football Manager Stories? I definitely know its a first for me. I have never not signed anyone in a transfer window before. My defence was weak but I couldnt find anyone to sign, well not on the cheap anyway.

Champions League Group Draw

I didn’t get much luck in the Champions League Draw, all three are difficult teams to play against, but we need to progress…for the clubs sake!

La Liga & Champions League Title Odds

I wasnt expecting the media to treat us well…but as long as we manage to finish in a Champions League position in the League and reach the Knockout Stage of the Champions League…I’ll be a happy manager :)

Well thats it for this post, sorry it took longer than it should…I’ve just been addicted to playing the save and trust me…you thought my Club Brugge save was a rollercoaster ride…

Thanks for reading and comment below :)

I admit that I’ve never seen such a «dry» transfer window :) However, no signings is way better than poor signings so I guess your decision is correct. Good luck for the season!

Exactly what I thought…I just didnt want to waste the 6m on a bad signing…and I was planning on waiting until the January Transfer Window. Cheers Johnny.

Tough Champions League group for you to navigate but I’m sure you will pull through with the players you have. Mata will be influential over the season, so try and keep prying eyes off him!

    Good luck ;)

Yeah its not easy but I should beat Ajax and Auxerre…shouldn’t I? Los Che still have a Top 5 team but its always nice to put your own stamp on a team lol. Yeah Mata is an absolute animal…but before the season I did offer him to teams for 50m…there were no takers but alot of interest from the Premiership big boys!

Very quiet window Martin, looks like you got a good deal for Vicente though :) Looking forward to the ‘rollercoaster’ ride!

Yeah I know…like I said to Johnny, I didnt want to waste the money I’d recieved for Vicente…I’ll definitely be spending in January.

I’ve definitely never seen an empty ins box on FMS before so well done on being the first to achieve that! ;) Great deal for Vicente too and I’m feeling like you may have a rollercoaster ride in store for us! :)

Very interesting pre-season mate. No signings and one very good sale in my opinion, the friendly results aren’t bad and I think your side should be going for the top four and certainly look good to qualify in Europe. Good luck.

Wow, that’s never happened before! It’s quiet evident how much debt Valancia have been in lately, but you do have some good players so hopefully you can finish in the top 7. Good luck ;)

Martin the pre season was Ok. Also selling Vicente was the right thing to do and a good price. Good luck for the rest of the season.

That’s a pretty simple transfer window, but with the financial situation on the club being prudent is good (though you could’ve gone for someone like Galeano, shouldn’t cost too much I think)

You still have some good players at the club, Joaquin and Mata can still lead the club to a Champions League spot again, good luck!

Very simple indeed lol. Yeah I could have signed a player like Galeano but there is a La Liga rule, and your only aloud 3 Non-EU players :(. Yeah they are some key players still at the club i’ll definitely be looking at them to get us European Football again next season. Cheers pal

    Hey Martin
Not too much action in the window. Your odds are not too bad, it is actually pretty close. Mata and Joaquin are good players. It will be hard to put off clubs from buying him. Good luck!
