A new clip showcasing the improved match engine in Football Manager 2013 is now available, I hope you will enjoy the nearly two minutes of FM 2013 fun. A quick recap of the new features in Football Manager 2013 that were announced through the video blog this week:
separate leaderboards for each game mode (full career, FM Classic, challenges).
separate leaderboards for nations/divisions.
sophisticated scoring system that takes into account trophies, goals scored, but also the initial reputation of the club that you achieved those results with.
fully integrated with Steam, you will be able to compare your score to those of your Steam friends.
manager wages count towards the points you earn, so now there’s a point in negotiating a higher salary with your club.
much easier to set up, network games will run through the powerful Steam servers.
you have the possibility to export your team from single player mode into a network game. This way you can play against one of your friends regardless of which season your team is playing in the single player mode. For instance, I could play with Viitorul Constanta against Darren’s Scarborough or Kevin’s Toronto FC!
agree on match view settings before the actual game, which avoids having the two players having different settings.
live feed of suggestions and updates during the match in a single, customizable, panel, instead of multiple panels like in FM 2012
quicker in-game substitutions
animated action bar and match info bar during the match
easier access to camera selection and match speed settings

It’s incredible the amount of improvement put on the match engine for fm13, possibly more than any year before it. Without doubt the experience will be more richer.
Hard to gauge how good it is from those clips, but certainly the flight of the ball seems miles better. Hopefully they’ve solved all the other silly little niggles as well. The insane curling balls in the current match engine are one of those things it looks like they’ve managed to resolve which is good.

I’m actually surprised by the amount they have done to improve the match engine, everything seems a lot more real in a lot of areas. Looks fantastic.

They are still working on the game, that’s what Miles said in the podcast, so I guess they will have a more polished version soon.

Ball movement looks much improved, should improve immersion in the game and make it more like real life :)
Now, if they could get Cisse to score THAT goal against Chelsea………..
