Hello all and welcome to my story. I have been playing the championship/football manager series since the 06 version and have been inspired by the many great stories on this forum to start my own. I am not particularly good at the game so I'm hoping that for this reason this story will be as exciting to read as it is frustrating for me. :) Anyway, I think it's about time I introduced you to the team I'm managing and as I prefer smaller teams who are in the 2nd or 3rd division of a country the team I have chosen is...

Brentford! A mid table team in League 1 which fits the bill perfectly and thankfully thats all the board expect of me:

That's all for now folks. Thanks for reading and please join me next time for pre-season and transfers.

PS: Apologies if the pictures aren't great and if there are any improvements I could make please say so. Thanks

Hello and welcome to the pre season antics at Griffin Park, home of the mighty Bees. It was a quiet one as I felt our squad would be up to the challenge of League 1 and hopefully push for the play off place I had outside hopes for. Despite this I still dipped my toes in the water for one loanee and a free.

I still don't know how we got Lichaj on loan. For an American international to drop down this low was quite unexpected considering that there were about 5 championship clubs interested. I mean, just look at his stats: Attached File  2012-12-07_00006.jpg   98.16K   41 downloads

My other signing was Simone Del Nero a versatile player who I'm hoping will add a lot of class and experience to my squad: Attached File  2012-12-07_00007.jpg   99.61K   49 downloads.

Obviously we also had pre seasons friendlies to contend with and well, I was impressed. Attached File  2012-12-07_00004.jpg   80.24K   31 downloads.

That draw against West Ham was incredible, we went two-nil up only then to fall 3-2 behind with 5 minutes left and then Clayton Donaldson decided he have a bit of fun and chip their goalkeeper. Also the loss against Peterborough ws completely undeserved as we dominated for large parts only to be hit on the break.

From now on I will update after every two months as I feel that is easier for me to do.

Thanks for reading folks. See you next time :P

Hello everyone and welcome back to my Brentford story. First of all I'm sorry about there being no pictures in this post because every time I go to upload one apparently the files too big even though it was allowing me to upload pictures previously? If anyone has any idea of how to get round this or any other suggestions they would be much appreciated.
Anyway, after a quiet pre season at Griffin Park it was time to start pushing onwards and upwards and that's exactly what we did. :)

Carling Cup

I'm not overly bothered about this cup if II'm honest as it just piles up the fixture list with no real financial reward so I was quite happy that we didin't go far. Anyway, in the first round we eventually overcame a resilient Aldershot side 3-1 in the end with goals from Diagourage, Deen and Hayes. In the next round we then got a rampant Reading side who demolished us four nil after an abject performance from the Bees.

JPT

Again this is a cup I don't care much for and we only had one game in it this month and that was against League 2 side Barnet. However, my boys didn't get complacent and smashed them 4 - 0 after a goal from Hayes and a superb hattrick from our star man Clayton Donaldson who netted the perfect hattrick. In the next round of this we will face Stevenage at Griffin Park so a potentially tricky tie is in store.

League 1

Well what can I say. We started off storming out of the blocks collecting 18 out of a possible 24 points before slipping up in our final two games.

VS Leyton Orient
A comfortable opening day victory for us as we saw off the challenge of the O's. Hayes and Donaldson, who seem to form a very good partnership at this level, both netted. However the game was marred by a sending off for our left back Tony Craig and disciplinary issues would soon become an unwanted feature of our play.
Final Score: Brentford 2-0 Leyton Orient

VS Yeovil
A trip to the east country followed the Orient game and it looked like all the travelling had to us as Yeovil netted in the first minute. We equalised soon after though as Farid El Alaugi raced clear to slot home in the tenth minute. Unfortunately we then conceded again in the 15th minute and a afrantic opening was rounded off when Jonathan Douglas saw red leaving us a man short for 70 odd minutes. The game was then dull to the final ten minutes when our talisman Donaldson decided enough was enough and scored twice to send our fans delirious before missing a penalty. We had showed a lot of character here and I was proud of the lads.
Final Score: Yeovil 2-3 Brentford
VS Crewe
Back at Griffin Park we welcomed Crewe who were in shock at the final whistle as we ran riot. That man Donaldson helping himself to a hattrick and Diagouraga and Barron also scored. We were completely dominant and the scoreline could and should have been higher but for Crewes goalie who performed miracles. Crewe did score two consolations but never threatened.
Final Score: Brentford 5-2 Crewe

Vs Wallsall
When Walsall came to town we were the clear favourites and were 2-0 to the good at the break. Unsurprisingly Donaldson netted and so did summer signing Del Nero, a great moment for the lad. However, by the final whistle we us and our distraught fans were left speechless as Walsall scored in the last 2 minutes. We didn't deserve this but we had to bounce back quickly with a trip to Carlisle looming.
Final Score: Brentford 2-2 Walsall

VS Carlisle
Again we made this ggame far harder for ourselves when Sam Saunders decided to try and snap someone and saw red in the 7th minute. This left me fearing the worst and sure enough Carlisle soon took the lead. With them pushing forward two long balls allowed Donaldson to net twice, once aftert their goalie dropped the ball at his feet :). The problem was our goalie did the same and that resulted in a late equaliser for the cumbrians.
Final Score: Carlisle 2-2 Brentford

VS Bournemoth and VS Scunthorpe.
II have decide to do these together as they were both rather uneventful and had the same outcome. We won both 1-0 with late goals. Diagouraga neted against bournemouth after a drilled cross from Lichaj and Donaldson (surprisingly) sprung to our rescue with a thumping header against Scunthorpe.
Final Scores: Brentford 1-0 Bournemouth Brentford 1-0 Scunthorpe

VS Colchester
Our trip to essesx proved to be nearly disastrous as we were totally outplayed by our hosts. They scored one should have had 3 or 4. However, we hung in there and got our reward as some lapse marking allowed Donaldson to poke home.
Final Score: Colchester 1-1 Brentford

VS Tranmere and Crawley
Againt these two reslults were exactly the same and our own two league losses to date. We deserved to get beat by Crawley but the Tranmere game stuck in my throat as it could have gone either way but a wonder goal settled two evenly matched teams. The Crawley game was a scrappy onw ith us sitting back and trying ot hold on for a point. They got the goal the deserved but I hope this is just a minor blip for my side.
Final Score: Tranmere 1-0 Brentford Crawley 1-0Brentford

After all that we currently sit 4th in the league 2 points of the shock leaders Leyton Orient. I feel confident about the play offs as a little gap of 4 points has sperated us from 7th so hopefully that can keep expanding. Sorry theres so much writing but as this is my first ever blog I'm a bit confused on the picture front so any advice would be great. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend! :)

Hello and welcome back to Griffin Park. If you can remember the Bees had started the season well and were sitting in 4th place. Could we keep this for up? This post will take you through to the beginning of January 2013 so please sit back and enjoy!

FA Cup
We entered the Fa Cup at the first round and got what looked to be an easy draw against Solihull Motors. I fielded a strong team hoping to avoid being the customary upset of the cup. We took the lead and then this happened...
Posted Image

We lost! Sam Saunders managed to get himself sent off again for which he was fined 2 weeks wages. The non league team then sent us spinning out of the cup. I was hoping for a good cup run due to our current financial state as we are 500k in the red and were losing money every month. Anyway we couldn't dwell on this as other games came thick and fast.

JPT
Eager to make up for our FA Cup failings me and my team have buldozed our way through this cup with minimal fuss with poor old Pompey feeling it the worst. We will now face one of either Bristol Rovers or Swindon in the area final as we bid to bring silverware to Griffin Park.

Posted Image

Back in the league we haven't had such an easy time as our form has been inconsistent. We've gone from being top to being seveth and back up to where we are now.

Posted Image

My personal favourites being another 5 goal thriller against Yeovil to getting beat at home by Shrewsbury and convincingly by Tranmere. The leeast said about Notts County the better. Here's the current league table:

Posted Image

We're third! I couldn't believed it as I thought our form would meanabout 6th. As you can see it's incredibly tight but we can go second if we win our game in hand. However, throughout the season there have been three players head and shoulders above the rest of our squad and here they are, the deadly trio:

Posted Image

Clayton Donaldson, our hero our talisman. If not for his goals we would be in mid table right now. Thankfully he hasn't got injured yet so fingers crossed.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Our two rocks at the back. Deen has been the better one but Legge has surprised me as his stats don't look up to much. Without them we would probably be lower as they have saved our skins on numerous occasions.

Finally, here is the tactic I've been using. Basic I know but it does the job.

Posted Image

That's it for today folks! Thanks for reading and a big thank you to vaibhavc for helping me with the pictures!

Great start, shame about the FA cup, but those results do come about every now and then. But brilliant in the JP and the league, hopefully you can secure automatic promotion, but a play-off place would be fantastic.

Thanks Archie! I agree with you on all of that but the FA Cup match was a sickener.
