Hello all. I've been playing fm for so long and this is my first story i'm gonna tell you. Some people pick strong, rich clubs others pick some clubs you probably never heard of,and some like me love to pick a club where you can cheer with your players and where you can bite nails, fingers pull your hair and live the most frustating life as manager of your club.

Yup, this story is one of those. I've been playing tons and tons of leagues, but lately (for few fm's) i've been avoiding Italy. So after selecting ~34 leagues i had to pick a club. Not too strong like Juve,Inter,Milan etc and not too weak like Siena,Chievo and similar ones. To narrow my search i decided to choose by my style of playing. I love midfielders and wingers so i searched around which club has nice players that would suit me.

Choice was between Catania , Genoa and Cagliari. So I searched deeper...stadiums!!! Genoa has biggest, Cagliari lowest capacity among these 3. To conclude my search, Catania bought me with geographical position. Sicily!!! Mafia + Etna vulcano B)
So i clicked that "Take control" and off i go to train some elephants...

After i played 2 seasons and just started my 3rd, i'll provide you some images to see how it worked out...basicly start was "yay" but when i looked on financial status over some time, that "yay" went to "aww".

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Season 2012

OK, so i started by bringing some fresh faces into club, Catania has nice players but lacks in DC and ST position. DC as you are short with them...ST as these ones are not so precise when it comes to score goals...or not?!

Posted Image

so as you can see, none of nice defenders wanted to join, so i took some nice DMC's and few strikers, with my fingers crossed that defenders don't injure themselves on training or match. Since you are kinda short with € i offered almost whole reserve squad for loan so i can free up some wage space, once you count you get pretty nice 2-3mil € free space.

My staff were...well i had some decent and some crapy ones so i kicked few and brought fresh faces (atm staff are from 2014 some of them retired like Luciano Moggi) most of them are attending pro licence, and some of them already have it.

Posted Image

Since i had so many midfield players my tactic was 4-5-1 or as some would say 4-3-2-1 with wingers. My midfielders offered me so many attack opportunities either by exploiting wings or by long shots from my MC's as they had very nice ratings for it. Problem was counter-attacks from opposition, 1 out of 7 would be goal for them...so our mentality was "score more than you can get".

Posted Image

so i played with Limited defenders, Ball winning midfielder, next to him were Deep lying playmaker's , Wingers & Target man and as you can see most of them scored, and wingers had decent amount of assists.

Posted Image

at start i organized 2 friendly myself with Lazio as they were paying 250k per game, so i managed to fix 2 of them while my assistant menager organized rest. I started season by beating stronger ones, and losing from weaker as you can see Milan,Lazio,Fiorentina. Also my local derby with biggest rival Palermo was not so succesful. In cup i managed to get to 1/4 finals but then i landed on Parma which had some nice striker Belfodil who will be avaiable on free transfer soon but i can't afford him as i don't have any € to spare for his wage...crapy 900k p/a... so as season went by my elephants were strugling and hoping to achieve nice mid-table position that board asked in first place. After taking some more scalps from bigger teams and loosing from relegation teams (Siena, Roma) i ended season as 12th

Posted Image

so to conclude this short briefing from season 12 i had to many draws, and a bit more lost games than i expected. As free transfer was aproaching i could only watch so many nice players going to all directions except into my club as my team was negative in balance, and chairman said he'll even cut wage budget for 3mil... so from nice 19/19,5mil budget i ended to 19/16mil budget. But to end season 12 here are some top transfers in Italy.

Posted Image

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Season 2013

ok so around 20 players returned from loans...one of them was Maxi Lopez...guy who scored 20 goals for Sampdoria last season, just wanna meet genius who sent him on loan, nice job Catania! New season, new cash... well remember that "yay" from start? I got message that my sponsorship will be doubled..."yay"...i got 29mil from TV rights, ~3mil for transfers and... ... ...board decided to take a loan from bank, no reason i was in short positive, but they took 40mil until 2019 which i will pay ~600k monthly "aww" so we are at the start of "season 2012" with no cash in our pocket. I managed to grab some free players but i had to take 1 GK as my 2 co-owned were...bad!

Posted Image

but now i got myself nice DC Alexander Madlung who will provide nice challenge goalkeeper DC while i do crossing from corners. And i got GK Marcelo Barovero who had better technical ratings than my Andujar, but he was with Argentina squad so i decided to let him continue to be #1 (which will be nice later for World Cup ;) )
This time i had 2 nice strikers who can score pretty nice amount of goals for Catania, behind them was stronger midfield and i had nice defense...so i went that season for classic 4-4-2

Posted Image

This time i switched possitions for ML,MR which was nice as when you watch 3d pitch you could actually see them swap places, while opposition players were bumping into each other (a bug maybe?) Bergessio & Lopez ended up with 36 goals total in serie A which was nice as other half was scored by midfielders. But biggest achievment was Italian Cup! Yes,yes my elephants managed to run over all the way to finals, but i have to say nice job to Udinese as they cleared my wait to finals but knocking out bigger teams. I said "thank you Udine" in finals...where i took them out in extra time. My assistent got me friendly with Barcelona, bad part except losing is that i had to pay them for that match so i didn't even earn 1€.

Posted Image

as ussual i left point to teams who will be in relegation zone, and i took points from top 5 teams, seems like it's a genetics in Catania. But i bought all the hearts with this Cup,as i knocked out my rival Palermo and managed to end up at mid-table again,so board was pleased and they gave me high five and new contract. By this time i was offered many contracts from other leagues and some big clubs, most of them who were going out like Roma,Schalke,Werder,HSV,Newcastle,Deportivo,Rennais,... all rejected this is Catania story after all :)

Posted Image

and to maybe conclude this season i'll provide you again top 15 transfers in Italy...by this time i was thinking to maybe sell half of my team as i had pretty nice 5* players in my shortlist that scouts provided me in this 2 years, what will happen? Check out in season 2014.

Posted Image

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Season 2014

Ok since this season is still active i'll just fill you up with transfers, starting fixtures, new presents and some top stats.

At this time most od my strong DMC's retired :) yeah i know playing football with 35 isn't that easy even if you have stamina 17! But i already had nice young elephants just waiting to get for free, thank you scouts! So to reduce my wages i released most of dead meat who were ending on contract soon...that gave me totally ~8/9 mil difference to play with. So i brought 2 transfer faces Buonanotte and Viera, payed them with that wage difference and got offered 6mil for Belluschi 50% co-ownership which i accepted but with my terms!

Player will be 2 years in Catania and other 50% will cost 20mil ... was a nice day for me,as Napoli accepted & Argentina won WC which made my #1 GK Superstar increasing his value to 8mil.
So i bought 2 players, got "refunded" brought few free players and had my team ready...then it crossed my mind they will be soon near end of contract so i can offer them new one or try to sell them ~december what will happen, we will see.

Posted Image

New season started and brought new presents...Italian Super Cup , & Europe! well let's see how that worked out

Posted Image

yeah i won ISC vs Atalanta who won Serie A last season, how derp is that :) so i got 2 trophies in few months, not so "big" but Cup gave me opportunity to play in Europe. In Serie A i started with wins,i'm so proud on my elephants as they broke bones to all who oppose them but season is very long and we haven't done J from job. Until i play to 1.1.2015 or maybe whole season i'll provide you with some transfers and some info about players. Until then have fun all \o,

I had a great game with Catania in FM2010. Lotta love for that club! They're the poorer brothers of Palermo and are difficult to grow but have some great players to start with.
Total legends were Maxi Lopez (top scorer serie A), Alejandro Gomez and Pablo Barrientos.

Good luck, I'll be keeping an eye on this story!

With such limited funds to work off well done with the mid-table finishes. This looks a good story and hopefully you can try and swipe a European place and a maybe claim the Italian Cup again :)!

Thank you guys for all support, the new season brought new challenges and i'll try to give my best with them. At the moment I reached 1.1.2015 so i'll provide you with half-season info. I'll focus more on bringing new faces into club by scouting and reading tons and tons of reports, hopefully a big name might land to Sicily who knows :D

So the new season started pretty nice, my elephants overun some big names and as usuall i left points to some weaker teams. It has to be Catania genetics, trust me ;) Most of my players will be playing in Catania for some time as i gave them new contracts, except 2 of them which were very popular on market so i decided to transfer them. Since i'll provide full transfer info once im done with them, i won't say who are they and their price so i'll let you be curious a bit more :)

Except for serie A, i managed to finish euro cup group stage at 2nd place. It was a bit hard group for me but lady luck was on my side i have to admit. Other teams had better players than i had i have to say that, but as one after match report said it was all on brain and not the muscles. I started with 3pts against Lokomotiv M. scored late goal at 93min even it was 2min extra time...then i went to Metalist and Cristaldo beat the hell out of me. Then i went to Liverpool...i hoped that i'd lose by 1 goal as they were attacking 99% of 3d pitch view, but i managed to score a goal and grab 3pts from them. Went home as hero! Then i hosted game for them, same scenario except they won 1:0 this time. After Liverpool Pavlyuchenko gave me hard time at Moscow, i took lead 0:1 and it lasted for 10min, then he scored for 2:1 and i managed to score one more in 94min...even it was 2min extra time again :P Last game it was me or Metalist who would go next round. As ordered my players to beat the crap of Cristaldo...31min he scored for lead...so i yelled at them and threw stuff...made a sub, told Fierro that he has what it takes...he scored 2 goals...and my team was in next round.

Posted Image

Posted Image

So i got Dnipro for next game...God thing is they sold most of nice players, bad thing is they have tons of € and its free/transfers time.
Meanwhile some big names were looking at me, so i got 2 nice news

Posted Image

Posted Image

I have to say...pressing that reject button was the most painfull thing in this Catania game, but i'm stick with my elephants so i went "f*** you €'s" and i rejected them both as a boss.
In junior league (u20) my small elephants are beating their friends and they are on the way to grab their 1st league title, they already have one trophy from last season ;)

Posted Image

and are progressing well to defend it this year. Speaking of Cup i'm still in,had some hard games that i won on penalties and gave my fans few heart attacks, but since its not over yet i'll not say its mine... (it will be mine, my precious :D )
Bellusci made into Italy squad, was on bench though but we celebrated in some famous Sicily club. And last but not the least serie a...started nice, than had some bumps, then continued to do well. For more detailed info take a look on next pics. That would be for this half-season report, i'll spent some days on getting new elephants into my squad and once it's over, i'll provide you with Transfer history and continue to play until the end of season.
Have fun all and thanks for reading my story

If i had more money for wages,i could brought Gameiro,M'Vila,Boudebouz,Karaboue,Pajot,Dossevi,Luiz Gustavo,Obi Mikel,Andre ter Stegen and tons and tons of very good players all for free. They wanted to join me so only problem was paycheck. I tried to ask board to give me hand with it as i made ~18mil profit and had +10mil wage difference but they rejected me. So these top were only ones atm i could get to club.
Now i said i'll tell ya who went out of Catania. I had to earn some € and i had some players who were wanted on market so i got rid of them.

Posted Image

atm season went on i'm at 2nd place with -6 points behind Juventus, i won some games but as i was taking these screenshoots i'll just show ya where i stoped playing and what's waiting me on. Until end of season take care all and have fun with FM13 ;)

so far i had 5 matches with them, won only 1 game and had 1 draw. But i think i have better players so we'll see and hope for the best. I'd love to win league that's my top goal, and go to higher europe rank competition. Who knows i might progress well in eufa too if i get "weaker" teams, but now i have to beat Dnipro who is 1st in ukraine league with 13 conceded goals so it will be pain in the ass game too.

hello to my conclusion of season 2014/15 there are some good news and some bad news. Let's start from last time, as you saw in January i had cup match with Pescara which i went trough, and some nice results were on my track for some time. 2 teams were waiting me in cup's. In Europe i had Dnipro who was 1st with ~13 goals conceded in Ukraine. I managed to get 1:0 at home and 1:1 away which was enough to go on. In Italian cup i had Napoli breathing on my neck even though i had 3:0 at home i almost droped out, on their pitch i had lead 2:0 and then they started to break my defense into half giving me 5 goals and 5min to worry about will i drop out of cup or not. Luckily i managed to survive and go on.
Then came 1st result which will prove to be very bad at the end of season...my black cat Modena with fucking Mirko Antenucci and Martinho. Both were my ex-players which i sold to Modena,to make it even worse that Martinho had 100% 3rd party sell fee clause so i got 0€ for him. I lost 2:1 with their goals and at 1st half-season we played 0:0 so thats 5 points that i left to them. I Europe i went to Stuttgart, both matches ended 2:1 in my case even though Stuttgart had better players than me...but my Europe story will come to end soon. Valencia was waiting for me...Valencia bought every single player that i wanted to buy but didn't had any money at that time,so i was playing against my "shortlist players". At home i grabbed 2:2 but i lost 0:2 there. They didn't lasted for long as they were kicked in semi-finals.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Moving on to serie a as that was only competition to play since i was already in finals of italian cup. After Valencia i had 5 more matches to play,at that time i was 2nd behind Juventus but under me was tons of clubs with 2-3 points difference so every match was crucial. I played with Palermo 0:0 since it is derby and hard match this result was "acceptable" but next match vs Vicenza was "arghhhhhh" ... ended 1:1 and in 1st half-season i lost 1:2 so that another 5 points blown in the wind. Last 3 games were "easy" had Fiorentina,Lazio and Torino. Fiora and Lazio were so bad this season that i already grabbed 3 points from them in my calculations, and Torino lost their goalmachine Destro for few months so no one could really score more than 1 goal against me. And that last game vs Torino showed how much important were those games with Vicenza & Modena (fucking Antenucci). I ended season as 2nd with same stats as Juve and points but with less scored goals... ... ... ... BANG!

Posted Image

Even my fans were hoping that Napoli and Cavani could score more than 21 goals so that i have better goal difference and they were chearing for them too... but it was kinda hard to expect in 90min

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

so i ended as 2nd. Well it was nice result after all but when you grab that trophy with one hand its hard to let it go.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Some of my key players got injured for some time, and most of them are ~30+ so i'll probably sell 75% of my team and replace them with younger ones. Speaking of youngsters, my u20 elephants managed to lose title in last match as they played 1:1 with Inter u20 giving them 2nd place and 1 point under Roma u20 ... So they beat the hell of Inter u20 in cup where they defended title

Posted Image

To concluse this post here is info with my main squad, attackers were in good shape, wingers had hard time assisting while playmakers cover them with their assists. Defence was solid pushing me to 2nd place and goalkeppers had some nice streak of clean sheet too.

Posted Image

Well thats all for now, i saved in 1.6.2015 so i'll have fun scouting and searching for 5* players and soon that free transfer army will join me so i'll have fun auctioning most of my old players. Until then enjoy the pics (specially those 3 elephant ladies) and take care
