Let's Play Real Sociedad

So here it is my first play through of Football Manager 2013. In this post I will be discussing my goals and targets for the team, transfers as well as pre-season, along with a couple of other points. So let's begin

The board is very much wanting me to develop players from the youth system so am looking forward to adding to the young talent already at my disposal.

Here are another couple of youngsters in the youth team with good potential -

The idea will be to loan them out for a few seasons and watch their development.

My Targets and Style -

My hope and desire for this team is to build a squad capable of competing for trophies on all fronts, Spanish Cup, Liga BBVA and the much coveted Champions League. This will by no means be a tough feat but I believe the potential in the squad, playing the right way at the right times and a few key signings here and there will allow me to do this hopefully within a few seasons, ideally three.

The style of football which I love is of the beautiful passing game and this is what I try to emulate with this team, retaining possession and carving out chances with patience and class. Being of mainly Spanish contingent this is more than possible.

Thus I will be playing with a 4-3-3- very fluid style or a 4-5-1 depending on your gaze. This is what my formation and instructions look like:

These instructions will more than likely alter, hopefully not drastically, depending on how my pre-season pans out.

Transfers -

The club starts with no budget but this can be altered to around £3M however I am looking to sell in order to purchase. This will be difficult as the club is not riddled with strength in depth.

Going off the team report of my assistant the team does okay in the starting XI however I am looking to strengthen in central defence. The only player I would be willing to sell due to the lack of funds is Gorka Elustondo, I find him surplus to requirements due to his lack of quality and having multiple players in ahead of him in the pecking order.

I have identified this young gem as my target and looking for him to form a great partnership with Inigo Mrtinez

Staff -

I felt that the backroom staff under current employment was not befitting of my goals so I unfortunately removed them all, which I always feel guilty for, and replaced them with some of my favourite staff which I have found through hours of searching. The only others I had wished to obtained were that of Massimo Bonini, a terrific defensive coach and Gialuca Bisciotti who is an excellent fitness coach. Unfortunately the wages were not me and they rejected but I will attempt again further along the line.

Key Players and Squad Review-

Players that will be key in this campaign and hopefully for the future will be that of Inigo Maritinez, Asier Illarramendi, Ruben Pardo, Xabi Prieto and Antoine Griezmann.Giving me a very good base to start with. The club also maintains a good goalkeeper, a good loanee left back in Jose Angel and hopefully I can persuade him to sign at the end of the season, hoping all goes well. Also we have a talented playmaker in David Zurutuza as well as the talented wide man of Gonzalo Castro. The strike force also has ability with three good options in Carlos Vela, him being the most promising forward and my number one, Imanol Agriretxe and Diego Ifran providing the back up. The defence is the weakest of my positions however the current squad should be capable for the short term.

So I believe that not much overhaul is required at this moment but in the long run then definitely. I am excited to see what they are capable of come pre-season.

Pre Season, Training and Start of Season -

I have a few friendlies to test out my tactics before the start of season and I truly believe that we should be winning all of these games. My pre-season training is also set to intense fitness as I believe that this well stand them well come the end of the season and to focus on the tactics so that the philosophy and style of play can be emulated as quickly as possible.

With a look at the fixture list for the start of the season I believe that points have to be gained from the first four games as they are swiftly followed by a clash with the league giants in Barcelona and Real Madrid.

So that is all for now, sorry for it being long winded and detailed but I wanted to cover a lot of points and get stuck into the game. Any feedback and queries about my save are welcomed.

I will attempt to get posts out as regularly as possibly and provide regular updates! And they will be much shorter post.

My next should be once my pre-season is over and when I am ready to start the season.

Wish me luck!

16.07.2012

The doctors said it would help my recovery, mentally more than physically, if I wrote about what happens to me as I try to work my way into management and, more importantly, normal everyday life. I'm lucky to be alive, and I want to grab life with both hands and get back into the game I love. Ever since I was told I wouldn't be able to play professionally again, there was only one career move on my mind: management. I had always planned to move into coaching and potentially being a manager, but now it's arrived at my feet ten years earlier than I planned. I never got the chance to reach the very top as a player, but I'll be damned if I won't as a manager. Obviously I have no non-playing experience, but I've been working on coaching badges since I got out of hospital and I just hope that somebody will give me a chance. I'm not expecting to replace Fergie, or take over at the Nou Camp or the Bernabeu - not yet anyway - but I hope that one day Fabrice Muamba will be a name that will be up there with the managerial greats.

17.07.2012

I can't believe it.
Turning The Bhoys Into Men

Hey there, i've not really posted much on this forum but i've read alot and used the resources available, but i suppose this could be an introduction, hey i'm Seano from Ireland

This is my first story on this forum and infact on FM13. I've written a few before, my best probably "Renovating the Cottage" which was on another forum.

I've wanted to write one, but i never really had much success with FM13, until i started a Celtic save. I've finished the first season so i'll post that up sometime tomorrow, i'm pretty sure it'll blow you all away haha.

Anyways, i hope you enjoy reading what i have to write about and hopefully my story will last for sometime

I'll make a proper post about it tomorrow, but for now, it's a Celtic story.

Psv Eindhoven - A Dwindling League

Hello all, today has been a great day. I met Barack O'Bama and his wife in Belfast today, very inspirational talkers, but a man who seems really down to earth, well to me anyway

I have really been searching for a team that I really wanted to manage, but I have also been searching for the will to get a story up on FMS after not really having a proper story on FMS this year. 3 things have inspired me to write this story, well 3 people. Kevin's story is a story I have really enjoyed reading over the past months, but his talk of new stories and his story ideas have really got me back into the mood for coming back to the forum, and also Ben's incredible Sofia story has guided me to choose a team that is one of the top in their nation but nowhere in Europe combined with Royman's Bilbao story and his talk of raising young, raw potential stars has led me too PSV, a team which ticks all the boxes

So lets have a bit of a look into what PSV are all about:

PSV play their football in the Philips Stadium, a stadium that from what i've been told is one of the best in terms of atmosphere and hospitality in Europe.

21 times PSV have won the Eredivisie, 9 times less than Ajax - If that gap isn't bridged by the time I up sticks and leave Eindhoven then I will have seriously failed . They have won the European Cup one time - 1988, they have won the Dutch cup 9 times, but something I find alarming is the fact that they haven't won the league in 5 years - that's gotta change.

So, their called PSV Eindhoven, they play in Holland, their stadium is called the Philips stadium and they are a team with history and potential, did I miss anything ? probably but its an into, I don't want to bore you to death with info.

One last thing - The Eredivisie has been branded as a selling league in the last few years and probably rightly so, the teams just don't have the financial prowess to keep the endless superstars the teams keep producing, but its really affecting the league. I really enjoy watching the football in the dutch league, its a league with so much promise, and really, its perfectly run, the debt problem is pretty non-existent when you compare it with leagues like La Liga and Serie A. That is due to the fact that Holland produce player after player after player, all through the youth Academies of teams such as Ajax, PSV, Alkmaar and they go overseas for £15m +. It is a great way to run the clubs, but is it affecting the entertainment factor of the league ? I feel it is, and I just hope the PSV and Ajax can really lead the league to hold on to their players, and improve the league.

So that's is all, ill be back pretty soon to show you how the first half of the season went. Thanks for taking the time to read, hopefully you will follow me the whole way. Please feel free to leave a comment below, im keen to hear opinions on this story and any suggestions you may have are more than welcome. Bye

The Invincibles - Rebuilding The Gunners! Steps Backward?

Hello all, welcome to my new story.

I will be managing Arsenal, to try and build them back up to the class they showed when going unbeaten in 2003-04. My motovation for this was watching Premiership Years on Sky Sports 4.

Anyway recently for Arsenal a trophy would be nice, never mind winning the league and then again going a season without tasting a single defeat. Without any more heres my pre-season.

Before we could look at bringing in some fresh faces, we had to sell some dead wood. Mertasacker, Squalachi and Koscielny left from the defence, Koscienly the only one that I would have been happy to keep out of them. Gervinho I felt i would rather have 10million to spend. Arshavin went for 2.5m and Arteta, a decent player but 30 years old was the main reason why I decided to sell. So with an extra 40 million to spend, what did i spend it on?

I told the board I could get champions league football, which recently for Arsenal seems to be their own trophy. So with 40million plus 25 million, we had 65million to spend but unfortunately i had to use a lot of installments as our

total spend was 102million.

Dede was my choice of a quality centre half to replace Koscielny. Fierro was a young striker that i think could add some goals. Jovetic was bought to replace Gervinho, Fellaini and Isco to replace Arteta and also add some vital quaity in the centre of the park.

Right thats it for now, in this relatively short post, next post will be before the weekend with pre-season results and our start to the season.

Thanks for reading, please comment

Ana - Turkish Delight (Season Four - Completed)

Hello everyone!

So having spent almost no time playing this game I felt the urge to have another go having really failed in my early attempts but having read that the game is more fixed I decide to well start a story and see how it goes!

I have wrote stories for the past editions and I guess it felt a little strange to not write one this time so fear not as I will bring to you my new journey!

Turkey it is and the plan is simple take the worst team and build a history, I chose wisely picking a club with no history no legends an excellent platform to deliver my end goal a history to look back on and be proud of.

Welcome to the future of Turkish football, Eyupspor.

-------------------------

Honestly I have no idea what drew to me to Turkey or indeed this team maybe fate!! Or maybe the fact that they had a purple (my favourite colour!) strip but the fact is they play in the bottom division in Turkish football based in the beautiful city of Istanbul.

So poor facilities, small stadium we have grass at least! Even though the condition is already very poor and there is yet a game to be played on it my first task is to hire a groundsman I guess.

Financially to too bad not great just not brilliant and am sure we will steadily lose a fortune each month until their is nothing left, but the upside well am sure there is an upside somewhere maybe my team is brilliant!

Hmmm not too bad I guess I always seem to get a superb center forward on these low level stories guess am just lucky! Seems a decent team to inherit needs a little work and with a poor scout and almost zero knowledge of Turkish football signings will be very hard to come by.

A look now at the best player, Ersen Martin :-

Super tall and 17 for jumping! Time for some trademark English tactics and big long balls to him! Joking of course please dont get mad at me English fans!

I guess that tactic might work though especially from corners and crosses a speedy player beside him and we might score goals this season.

The Turkish rules, very similar to lower league Spain which is nice as I know how that works but essentially two groups A and B and the winners get promoted out right from both the four that finish in the playoffs from A face the other teams for B and only the winner gets the final promotion so eight teams for the final promotion place, playoffs...........

-------------------------------

So that's it for now!

Hopefully the layout looks ok its been a while since I posted on a forum so any changes just let me know, the title Turkish Delight is terrible I know my boyfriends suggestion and to be honest I was desperate so it will do for now!

My goal will to build a legacy and one day maybe even get to Europe, I have managed in maybe 90% off all the leagues but never Turkey so hopefully this will provide a new experience.

As always I will continue as my time allows, full time job and full time boyfriend but I will do my best to keep the story flowing at a reasonable pace.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can bring you something a little bit different I did notice they haven't changed the female questions from last years game when you join a club!

Time for me to stop talking I guess! I tend to go on a little so I look forward to your thoughts as I rejoin the madness but hopefully you can keep me sane on this journey!

Here Comes Chuck Norris - Chapter 3: Chavdar Etropole, 2014/2015

Well I could have swear I would never play Football Manager 2013 again. Not after losing 3-7 at home while leading 3-1 at half time and after all the bugs I've encountered so far. But then one day I thought about doing some experiments. I started another journey and played around with the different settings until I got close to something that seemed worth of a try.

Sometimes a break is all that you need, some say. It clears your thoughts and makes you reflect and bring up new ideas and ways of understanding the logic behind what seems to be a problem without a proper solution. I don't wanna go ahead too much because I've learned things can become disappointing in no time, but what a hell...let's start a new story shall we?

Okay first thing, I will cover a whole season in a single update. There won't be much talking around, just straight to the point to keep it plain and simple. The idea behind the story is that I will play as a Sunday league manager, unemployed, take a club and finish the season with it, then move on to another. I will ignore quite a few aspects while doing it so here are the steps for this story...

Initial setup:
- start unemployed as a Sunday league manager and look for a good offer from clubs
Preseason:
- once a job accepted, look for a better assistant and remove any dead wood from the team
- search for a better GK and leave any other transfer affairs to the club's president
- leave the president deal with the staff management and contract negotiations for current players
- leave the assistant in charge of match training, friendlies and press conference
- employ a 4-4-2 formation and make sure the assistant plays it during the friendlies
- skip any meetings with the staff members
In-game:
- choose the line-ups
- ignore opposition instructions and shouts

- keep the tactics consistent during the game

- handle team talks and make substitutions
End of the season:
- resign and look for a new club

The reason behind this setup is that I want to gain some pace during the seasons without losing too much time on useless aspects of the game because honestly, after my previous experiences I do believe they are useless. Anyway, after spending a whole day searching for ways to counter attack these glitches and shortcomings of this year's edition, I've come to the conclusion that there are only 3 decisive factors in this: a right tactic, a good line-up and a successful team talk. So let the journey begin...

Rebuilding La Coruna

Hello,

This is my first ever post on this game and I hope you enjoy it.

I have decided to try and resurrect the great days of Deportivo La Coruna, when just after the turn of the Millenium, they won La Liga and made the semi-finals of the Champions League, playing attacking football and thrilling the crowd with players such as Roy Makaay. Sadly they have just been relegated out of Spain's top flight and I aim to go straight back up.

If this link works, you will see how when I just took over, we have no transfer budget and are - £60,000 in the red for wages, as you will see later in the post I have cut this down significantly.

After releasing many players and terminating loans, this is the squad I have which I will take into my first game against Recreativo.

This is now a picture of the updated finances, we now have some wage budget but not enough to acquire the sort of players I need, so we have no incoming transfers and I have to stick with the squad I have.

I will post every 3 months in my game and any advice and support will be greatly appreciated as this is my first post!

Thankyou

Josh

Lost Behind The Iron Curtain - Player Development

Hey guys, well this challenge kinda got sunk straight away, there were a few factors in it to be honest. The fact that my time was very limited with Uni and work, and the time I did have on it was very frustrating with Qala. It was the point season after season of mid table mediocrity.

We weren't in any danger of going down, but the same can be said for promotion, it just wasn't going to happen. We didn't have the funds available and since I only maybe got to playing it one hour a week it was too hard going.

But instead of throwing in the towel, I have just decided to start again!! It has worked out pretty well because now there are several more playable leagues available to me.

So these are the leagues of countries that used to be part of the former USSR. Much better than the 5 I had before. Same rules apply.

Start unemployed with sunday league rep.
Try and win the CL with a team in a country in the former USSR.

So I started and let my PA find me a job while I laid around the beach on holiday and it wasn't long before I found a job.

FBK Kaunas did not have a manager and they very kindly offered me a job. I would be surprised if people knew which country this was from and I can tell you it is Lithuania.

They are currently playing in the second tier and are half way through their season. I am not quite sure why their old manager left as when I joined they are top of the table.

Here is some information about my new team!!

As you can see, our value is pretty good for a second tier Lithuania team. We do own our own stadium which holds a cool 9000 people. We are predicted to finish 2nd this season but I will be disappointed if we don't secure first place. And that is vital as only the champions are promoted!!

This is interesting as only a few years ago this team were one of the top teams in Lithuania. Only to be relegated last year. Let's hope the exile from the top isn't a long one.

So since I am in the middle of the season, this update will finish the half season when I joined. So first of all the fixtures, we were already knocked out the cup so only had the league to focus on!!

A couple silly defeats in there but a very strong end to the season with 5 wins on the bounce. Was that enough to secure the championship and promotion?

Yeahhhh!! Nevezis put up a pretty brave fight in the end, especially when the beat us and their ground. It is amazing to see the gulf in class between the top 3 and the rest of the league. We had almost double the points of 4th and only conceded 6 goals all season!!

So that was a pretty tame start to my career in Eastern Europe! Already I feel more comfortable than the last time and more into the save!!

I hope you have enjoyed my little mini update/intro and I will leave you with this that made me laugh!!

I think my scout got a bit lazy while writing a scout report for me...

Mind you, he only gets paid £120 a week!!

Thanks for reading and as always feel free to comment!!

The Bilbao Boys-The Boys Are Back In Town

Hello everyone, sorry for disappearing again but I'm here to start up another story. I will update my pentagon challenge within the next week or so, it's just that I've done three seasons now without updating so it may take a while to write something up for that. What I plan on doing when I get around to it is show how I've improved in each competition year on year, obviously it will be a long post but considering it will be my final post on that story, it will be best to go out with a bang . Anyway on to the aims of this story. I am obviously in charge of Athletico Bilbao and as you know they have certain restrictions where they are not allowed to sign any non-basque players, well I am going to take that one step further.... I'm not going to sign anyone at all, I will rely on players coming through my academy. I tried this on the last FM and it worked brilliantly, I eventually managed Spain and with a core of Bilbao players, we went on to lift the World Cup. I hope to the same again but it will be a lot harder with Javi Martinez gone and Fernando Llorente also leaving. Since I'm not signing anyone, I asked the board to upgrade our junior coaching which they obliged, I asked them to upgrade our youth facilities which they done at the 2nd time of asking. The first time around they said that they wanted me to focus on signing ready made players despite one of the terms of my contract being to bring through academy players. Fortunately the 2nd time they saw sense. They've also opted to improve our training facilities as well, but despite me asking they won't increase our number of coaches at the moment. This is where we stand in relation to our youth and training facilities, as you can see they're both almost done. Here is a couple of standout youngsters currently within Bilbao's team which I used over the duration of the season (non-regens). Despite having a relatively low star rating, he has proved to be a key member of the team and has rarely let me down. He may not have featured a lot but he is a very good prospect and performed admirably when called upon. An exceptional young defender and despite his tender years, he is already part of my first choice centre back partnership along with Mikel San Jose. As you can see Inigo here has had a good season and has a crucial role in midfield in the coming years. Now onto the players who came through the academy intake. We had two exceptional players who came through and who could stake a claim for a first team spot in the near future. The rest can just stay in the academy or go on to play for our B team. Both of our starlets that came through were central defenders. I was hoping for a goalkeeper and a striker as well due to Llorente leaving and the fact that Gorka Iraizoz is absolute rubbish. Ander Remirez is already attracting interest from Real Madrid which highlights the potential he has and as already a record holder as the youngest player to appear for Bilbao. What I usually do with youngsters coming through the academy is keep them at Bilbao and play them in the first team and get someone to tutor them. In the first year I will play them in around 5 games, in their 2nd year they will play a minimum of 10-15 games, in the third year they will play a minimum of 20 games. On the last game, this kind of programme helped me to produce superstars and I am hoping for something similar for this FM. Now time for the competitions. First up let's show how we done in the Spanish Cup. We done well, we were just rather unlucky to come up against Real Madrid and despite holding them at the Bernabeu, we just couldn't hold on long enough at home, but hopefully we can do better next season in this competition. Now onto the Europa League. We really should have finished top of our group. After playing Real Madrid I think it was, I still had my tactic on contain instead of control for the game against FC Twente which finished 0-0. I only realised after the match, had we won that game, we would have finished top of our group and probably have had a easier 1st knockout round tie but we got saddled with Lyon and got knocked out. Finally onto the league where I was simply aiming to finish as high as possible, I know we don't have a fantastic squad, in real life I believe Bilbao finished 14th which highlights how destructive they could be. Fortunately this is a game so anything at all is possible. Throughout the season I played with this formation which has served me well on quite a few occasions. But let's see how we done with this formation... As you can see, we were good in spells and poor in others as well, but was our form enough to warrant a place in the Champions League next season? We did it, just about, Athletic Bilbao will be playing Champions League football next season and I can't wait, I just hope that Aritz Aduriz steps up to the plate and he can seamlessly replace Llorente's goals. Here is the team ratings for the season which highlights how badly we need Aduriz to replace Llorente's goals... The main surprise up there as got to be Gaizka Toquero who is bizarrely a great right back on the game but all in all every player played well and the only one who I thought was rather useless was Gorka Iraizoz...hopefully there will be a goalkeeper coming through my academy soon enough. Thank you all for reading, I hope you all enjoyed this, it will be a bumpy ride but I hope that the Bilbao boys will bring untold glory to this club and I hope you all enjoy the journey.

Cska Sofia - Keeping It Together...just

Hello everyone and welcome to my new story. After looking through you responses for who I should go next I have decided to try something new to me. I will be taking over at two clubs due to the different responses in which no team was the overwhelming choice. So, without a further a do lets crack on and see the clubs chosen. Manager name: Luigi Missimone Age: 42 Nationalities: Italian, San Marino Past Experience: Professional footballer in the lower leagues of Italian football. Supported team: Juventus After coming through the San Marino club teams academy Luigi Missimone soon became a fan favorite for his work rate and passion for the game. Despite supporting Juventus and dreaming of playing for them his carrer never made those heights. Infact, an injury plagued career never really got going till his late 20's. He ended up staying at San Marino for his whole career and became captain of them and led them to a promotion, a day he still remembers fondly. He also played for the San Marino national team, famously scoring against Spain in a 6 - 1 defeat. After retiring at the age of 36 he spent his time studying for his coaching badges and going around various Italian clubs in the hope of becoming a manager. However, today was the day he got the offer of his life....
Meanwhile in England... there had been murmurings coming from the press that the Arsenal board had finally lost faith in Wenger and his point blank refusal to spend some f*****g money. After a season in which they came 3rd they felt that someone else was needed in time for pre - season so they could bring in their own players. A week later there was a shock development about who was announced at Arsenal and this is who was appointed. Name: Ben Heron Age: 25 Nationalities: English, Scottish Past Experience: Was an upcoming footballer Supported teams: Arsenal Ben Heron was meant to be the next big thing, but he was a boy who liked to party. After being touted as the next big thing at the age of 16 his life turned into a waste when he got himself serious debt and turned to drugs and alcohol in an effort to get away from it all. He was released by his boyhood club Arsenal for these reasons at the age of 19. despite this, the club offered him support and rehab through this difficult period and he duly accepted. He eventually got his life back on track and started studying for his coaching badges at the club and after Wenger's dismissal he stepped in to try to bring Arsenal to their former glories... As you have probably guessed I will be taking over Napoli and Arsenal. My only hope is the two teams don't play each other . Thanks for reading everyone and have a good weekend.

Climbing The Pyramid- Tier 9 English Team In Search Of Glory

First off, I´d like to give you a backgroud for this story. I first started reading stories on here when Johnny Karp was doing his Vauxhall story. It really hit home with me. Then Darren Smith and his Scarbourogh story, made the quiet days at work really enjoyable. I just love the lower leagues. The lower, the better, I say. When I saw Darren playing with a mod for 9 divisions in England, I knew I had to try it.

When I was a kid in the early to mid 80´s there where some really crappy football manager sims. I dont remember all the names, but there was a game called Football manager, back in ca 1982. Horrible stuff But it was all we had, and I for one, loved it! Before the computer games even came, I remember pulling out the goals from my STIGA table and making up games, me being the commentator, using Playmobile men as players and the ball from the STIGA. (if you dont know what a STIGA table is, google it, its awesome:) ) My kid brother looked at me as if I was from another planet:) Anyways, I really fell in love with football manager sims at the very beginning of the genre.

I played football since I was 6 uptill 18. After a few years brake from the game I did a few short stints in norwegian 8th division. Now its just the occasional 7-a sides team with mates, but I´m getting older 37 in the fall. I did make the 1st team junior elite for a norwegian 1st div team (tier 2) for a period. That is my highest football credential. Knees and shinbone tendons would not allow me to expand further. But in my own opinion, I would have made a decent tier 2 or 3 striker (in norway at least. Humble as ever )

Four years ago I started at university of Oslo. I quickly discovered a way I might be able to use my education for a career in football. The good thing is even if I fail, I would still qualify for a lot of other jobs. This spring I´m completing my bachelors degree and in the fall I will enroll in the masters program of educational science. My plan is to write about football in light of certain educational properties, wich I hope, may lead to some interviews and meetings with high level football people in Norway. My dream is to someday be a manager or a boardmember of a profesional football club

Thats the background of this game. I´m going to play as I´m there. The most realistic possible scenario. My background is, the equivalent of sunday league. The only thing I´m «makebeliving» is that my girlfriend and I suddenly sold our appartement and moved to the UK. She to become an acknowledged artist, and me to start a manager career. Learning from the bottom, and hopefully making a living of it. So we are going to pretend that I already did my masters, and the first 4 training badges (I dont know the system in England, but in Norway you need 4 courses to manage senior players) and headed for the football isles in search for a job....

Prologue:

Hello friends and greetings from Canada as we begin a New Year around the world. At the time of writing this it’s just past midnight in the UK and the TV behind me is raving on about PSY and his Gangnam style dance routine scheduled at Times Square in NYC later tonight.

So, a new year awaits - a time for making changes implementing resolutions and the like –most doomed to fail of course but the tick of the clock past midnight can be an exciting time to do something different and that’s what I’m going to do.

Riding home on the subway after work I was thinking about a book and laterally a television show by the BBC called a Year in Provence which chronicled obviously a family’s stay in France. That got me thinking; A Year in Football Manager, so what a great time to start writing about that, January 1st 2013.

Here’s the skinny then. I’ll pick a team and chronicle my real life journey of playing Football Manager over the next 12 months. Sure there will be scores, tables, transfers and all the rest of it but the emphasis will be on the journey; the day, the season (winter, spring etc..) what time it is, my thoughts, the things around me and of course how I’m playing the game.

Yes, it’s a different approach to story-telling at least for me so I hope to bring you an entertaining adventure and I look forward to comments as you follow along.

Okay then where to begin? Well, as happens to so many of us there’s a stumbling block right out of the gate….

What about Montreal?

Well it’s sort of in a cryogenic state like from some bad sci-fi movie in the 1970’s where one wakes up in 1999 and people are living on the moon. Oh yeah and the world would end in 2012. Unfortunately I remember the 1970's....

Thanks for reading and a Happy New Year!

Hi all! Recently i was so addictive to a football game in Facebook which called I am Playr where i am playing as one of the player with a virtual team name, River Park FC. Quite fun though. I'm not sure that how many of you have heard about this team. But i am inspired to start a new game with the team in FM 2014 where i added the team into the English Blue Square Premier League, starting with only 2 players that found in the game which is Danny Deans and Billy Laidlaw.

I will be playing as the virtual manager as well who named, Jon Peterson!

Stay tuned for the update!

Club History:

HISTORY

The Early Years

Founded in 1925 River Park F.C. is one of the youngest clubs in the professional football. Originally an amateur organisation, many of its founding members also made up a successful rowing team, which as legend has it, beat an Oxford crew by over 3 lengths during an unofficial warm-up for the University Boat Race.

The site of the original club house is only 2 miles away from the club’s all-seater stadium, known by many as ‘The Park’.

Having worked their way up through the ranks over the years, River Park finally found football success under the stewardship of HARRY PHILIPS, but suffered a dip in form at the end of this run, largely due to the serious and prolonged injury of their top goal scorer, the young DANNY DEANS.

PHILIPS was eventually replaced by CHRIS GILES, and the next season proved difficult for the club with players seemingly lacking confidence in their manager and with rumours rife that the club was in financial difficulty. DEANS, who had been with the club since the youth team had become a formidable Captain, and threatened to leave if the club’s situation did not change. GILES sold DEANS during the transfer window, which caused great upset among the players and fans.

Added to this, Boardroom tensions began to unsettle the manager, who walked out mid-season after almost 3 years at the helm. Confidence at the club slumped and the club seemed destined for a period without success in the doldrum.

The Return of Danny Deans

With attendances falling, the club was sold to local businessman, RONALD GOLD, who was able to fulfill a lifelong ambition of becoming chairman & owner of his boyhood club, for a very reasonable price.

GOLD appointed Spanish manager, ACIER FERRÓN. He also succeeded in returning DEANS to the club, who by this time had five caps for England. In order to ensure future success, the club launched its own young talent initiative to scout young players and bring them through the ranks of the club, creating a homegrown talent pool for the club to draw on.

The club’s results began to improve, but the development of youth team players and a limited transfer budget did not provide overnight success.

The club came under fire from some critics who became frustrated with the club for waiting for new, young talent to emerge rather than spending money in the transfer market. GOLD steadfastly refused to change his philosophy and despite the arrival of a young BILLY LAIDLAW, the team continued to rely increasingly on the ageing DEANS.

With River Park F.C. floundering at the wrong end of the table, FERRÓN returned to manage a Spanish side and was replaced by the relatively unknown JON PETERSON. Controversy surrounded the manager’s appointment and his inexperience managing a club at River Park’s level made him the Bookies’ favourite for the sack. However PETERSON proved an inspired signing and results immediately improved under his leadership, as he quickly gained a reputation for being one of the game’s best man-managers.

With GOLD & PETERSON at the helm, observers feel that River Park has finally found the stability it needs to achieve lasting success.

Hey, I decided to start a season with the Rangers, currently in this third division Scottish.

Seems like a good challenge, let's see how it will run.

I'm Portuguese and I can not speak English very well, so I use google translator

I do not have a very high budget, so I will not spend much money, I'll just hire free agents and loan

In pre-season games, I won two and lost two, the greatest defeat was the santos laguna players had tired so was normal

Now will start the season, I hope to get higher division and win one of the cups
