Stromson

Hailing from the East Coast of the United States, Jon is a relative newcomer to the world of football (or soccer, as he knows it). First gaining interest during the USA's improbable 2002 World Cup Quarterfinal run, he's since become an avid fan. FM11 is his first ever football manager game, but he's quickly become a devoted fanatic. He closely follows the US National team, DC United in the MLS, Arsenal in the Premier League, and Portsmouth in the Championship. He can be reached at fmstromson(at)gmail(dot)com.

A Journey in Portugal: Catching up (2013 & 2014)

Howdy folks, and welcome to another update of my Portugal story. I’d like to apologize for my absence over the past week (or so), as it was pretty hectic around the house (“spring cleaning”) and at work. Of course that didn’t stop me from actually playing the game in my downtime, and as a result I’ve gotten pretty far ahead of where we last left off. Since I don’t much care for stringing you guys [Read more]

A Journey in Portugal: Organized Chaos (Winter 2012)

Howdy folks, and welcome back. I apologize for the longer-than-usual delay in posting an update, but I’ve become a bit preoccupied with finishing Mass Effect 3 (such a good game). I’m still getting some FM time in, but on every occasion I’ve sat down to write an update, I somehow find myself with an Xbox controller in my hands in under five minutes. Shh, don’t tell anyone. So before we begin, I don’t know if I ever [Read more]

Dropping "The Bear", A Portugal Story (Summer of 2012)

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for the subpar quality of my most recent update. I was tired and hadn’t been drinking nearly enough to be typing an update. Well rest assured, neither of those conditions apply at present (as in I’m awake and proper liquored up)! Secondly, let’s face it, the whole “The Bear” thing has gotten tired. I’ve been thinking about it quite a bit (about 5 minutes, actually), and it isn’t adding anything [Read more]

A Bear in Portugal: Ruh-roh (Spring 2012)

Howdy everyone, and welcome back to another update of the Bear’s journey in the Portuguese third tier. When last we left off, our heroes were flying high in 6th place, and were looking to defy all expectations (Media Prediction of 15th) and survive our first season in the third division. Still, the season was only a third over, and there was a lot of work to be done if we were to continue. Let’s kick [Read more]

A Bear in Portugal, Fall of 2012

Hello everyone, and welcome back for the first proper installment of The Bear’s Portuguese adventure. I’ve been tossing around a few ideas for an update cycle, and haven’t been able to settle on anything solid. As a result, I’m beseeching you for your input in this matter. Here are the ones that jump to mind: 1) Full Season updates – Probably my least favorite option. Too much information to convey in too short of a time. 2) [Read more]

The Prodigal Bear Returns - To Portugal?

Hello everyone, I hope this finds you all doing well. First and foremost, I’d like to apologize for my lengthy absence. Between my FC United save going bust, and some real life health issues in my family (not me, I’m fine), I lost a lot of my motivation and free time. To his eternal credit, Johnny is as patient as a saint, and is allowing me to return after such a long time (thanks friend!). [Read more]

A Very Bearish Journey

No revelations, no excuses, and no promises – just a story. Twice The Bear has played his hand at football management, and twice he has been soundly beaten. His critics are many, and his friends few. Despite his best efforts, he has been unable to find a club willing to take him in; not even in the lowly Swedish 4th division. Broken, lost, and confused, he departed European shores as quickly as he had appeared. As [Read more]
