fm 2012 worldcup2010

Only a few more days to go, I can’t wait! The World Cup will finally begin on Friday and so will our predictions contest! You already know that you can win a copy of Football Manager 2011 but above that I’m sure that we’ll have lots of fun together during the tournament. After taking all your great suggestions into account I came up with the following set of rules and requirements for the contest, please read them carefully and let me know if they are OK or not.

Requirements

1. Register on the website here with a name and e-mail address. Those who are already registered can skip this step.

2. Use the same e-mail address that you entered in step 1 to subscribe to the footballmanagerstory.com daily updates here. Don’t forget to check the verification email that you will receive after subscribing. This is a security measure above all but I’m sure that you’ll love receiving the daily email updates. Those who already subscribed can skip this step.

3. Don’t try to cheat, I have several ways of verifying each user so don’t even try it! fm 2012 icon wink

4. You can enter the contest at any time, you don’t have to submit predictions on each and every game.

Rules

1. The daily games will be published at least 24 hours before kick off.

2. Submit predictions on each game via the comments box. Example: England vs U.S.A. – prediction 1, exact score 2-1. The predictions can be 1 (first team wins), X (draw), 2 (second team wins).

3. Each correct prediction will earn you one point. If you predict the exact score you will earn 5 points. That means that if a user correctly predicts the result and the exact score for a game then he or she will earn a total of 6 points for that match.

4. All predictions have to be submitted before the start of the respective games.

5. During the knock out rounds the result that will be taken into consideration will be the one recorded at the end of 90 minutes.

6. The points will be added up and at the end of the tournament the user with the most points will win the prize, a copy of Football Manager 2011. If we notice that before the final there will be the possibility of a tie then the users involved will have to submit more predictions for the final (half time result, goal scorers etc.)

7. If I win the contest myself then the second placed user will get the prize.

Support

These are not requirements, I just want to point out a few ways in which you can support the contest and this blog if you appreciate our efforts.

1. If you have a website it would be very nice if you could promote our contest and bring in more people to join the race for the prize. The more the merrier fm 2012 icon smile

2. The official website of the game has a fansites section where you can rate various websites about our beloved FM2010 game. FootballManagerStory.com is featured among those websites, I would appreciate it if you could rate it on the official site. You have to register in order to do that, you can do it here if you haven’t already.

Suggestions are always welcome, so please share them so that we can agree on the final rules before the actual start of the tournament. That’s about it, thanks for your support and best of luck for the contest!

  5. Johnny, again a great idea :D I won’t take part though even if I can do the group stages. Don’t ask why not I just don’t think it would something I would enjoy! :) Anyway, good idea and good luck to you all!

    Thanks,

  6. Hi Johnny
    I will take part but I am away from the 16th to the 22nd so predictions during those times may be few. Also, you may have noticed I have created a website. Am I OK to put a link to your website in the links section of mine? :)
    Matthew

  7. Just to confirm;

    i) You can choose to predict the winner only, the exact score isn’t required?

    ii) Even if you choose to predict the exact score, yet you are wrong, you still get 1 point if the winner you predicted wins? (Ex. USA vs KOR – prediction 1, exact score 3-2. Turns out that USA wins but not by that score.)

    Thanks.

  8. Thanks for your support folks!
    @Matthew
    I will add a link to your site soon, no problem.
    @Riza
    1. The exact score isn’t required but you should place your prediction on that too, 5 more points would always be welcome :)
    2. Indeed, you still get the one point even if your exact score prediction is wrong.

  9. I am away from 15th June – 23rd June, so I will post all my predictions for those games on the 13th or 14th. Meanwhile for the opening few games I will post my predictions daily.
    Thanks
    Mark

  10. OK Mark, no problem.

  11. Hi Johnny, I think the rules are pretty good, and of course, I will take part.

  12. South Africa 1 Mexico 1

    Uruguay 1 France 0

  13. Ok I’ve registered now. Where do I go to make predictions?
