Hello my friends. I’m sad to say my Oxford save is no longer as it just didn’t grab my interest the same way my Swindon game did and in some respects I wish I hadn’t given up on them. Therefore, I’m looking to start a new game and Johnny has very kindly put together a poll for me.

So here are the choices and the reason why.

  1. Ajax …simply because the company I work for (AEGON) sponsors them. We have Ajax shirts in our lobby of our office here in Canada.
  2. Newcastle…. super underachievers and my wife loves the movie Goal.
  3. Nott’m Forest…. as I had the privilege of lifting up the European Cup shortly after they won it in 1979. It was on the Adidas stand at a trade show I went to in Birmingham.
  4. Derby County….try to bring back those glory days of the seventies
  5. Toronto FC….as I’m in Canada.

I’m open to other suggestions if you guys don’t like this selection fm 2012 icon smile

Thanks in advance for your understanding as I know one or two of you can relate to the  position I find myself in.

Which team would you like me to manage?

  • Ajax Amsterdam (43%, 20 Votes)
  • Nottingham Forest (26%, 12 Votes)
  • Newcastle United (13%, 6 Votes)
  • Toronto FC (11%, 5 Votes)
  • Derby County (7%, 3 Votes)

Total Voters: 46

  1. As I told you before, I voted for Ajax but all five prospects seem interesting enough.

  2. Hi Kevin, i voted for Nottingham as i had an deep impression on their late manager Brian Clough. He was always very cool regardless of his team winning or losing. They definitely are the sleeping giants of English football. I hope you can bring them up again.

  3. Wow, two votes already and it’s not even lunchtime….for me that is :)

  4. I Have The Utmost Understanding For Your Decision.
That Is Really Cool That Your Company Sponsors Ajax, But I’m Assuming There’s More Than One Branch Of Aegon:P
I Voted For Ajax Because It Would Be Quite Interesting To Have A Team From A Different Country On The Blog, Y’Know, Spice It Up A Bit :P

  5. Hi Kevin, sorry to hear about your Oxford save, but all those options look interesting. I have voted for Ajax, but good luck with whoever you end up with.

  6. Hello Friends
Based on my email alerts it looks like Ajax so far.

Johnny; Thanks for your help yet again

Lye: I like your vote for Forest they were a very good team years ago.

Martin: AEGON is in the USA as well as throughout Europe including the UK. We are also in Asia too.

Laxeyman: Thanks for your vote as well.

By the way there is town called Ajax in Ontario as well not far from where I live.

    AEGON / Ajax link:

  7. gotta be ajax

  8. Hi Cory
Thanks for your input. Appreciate it.

  9. I think you should defintly not be a english side. They are allready enough of them so to make it interisting I think you should become Ajax boss.Bring back the golden years of dutch football..the ‘total football’!

  10. Sears:
Thanks for your “passionate” response. :)

    Everyone:
It seems that Ajax is the popular vote already. I better check out the Ajax team poster in my office to see who plays for them :)

  11. Johnny
Nice…add a little tension and drama.

  12. kevin,my game in general is about passion + agression.I’m talking about the real life soccer I play for my u15 and u16 team ha!Anyway, never mind us voting, who do want to be yourself?

  13. Hi Sears,
Difficult to say, hence the voting. Ajax would be a nice choice and would add a different perspective. I did quite fancy Toronto before I started the Oxford game but the transfer set up in the MLS can a be a pain. I have mixed emotions for all of the teams but this is based on how they were before you were born :) In then end though I’d like to try Ajax.

    • Nobody voted for Toronto FC so far… I guess the MLS is not that interesting for Europeans like “soccer” isn’t too appealing for North Americans.

  14. Johnny
I have been to two games and that’s only because FedEx gave me free tickets. I never watch it on TV….boring :(

  15. Hi, first post – gone against the norm and voted for Toronto – all the stories have been about European teams – it would be great to see you build up Toronto and then perhaps move to a bigger club if things go well. Like the idea of you taking the traditional route of starting with a smaller club then moving up the management ladder.

Looks like I will not get my wish tho. :-)

    Chris

  16. Hello Friends
Thirty votes so far.I’m shocked by that as I never expected such a great response. Thankyou.

It looks like Ajax are the clear leaders with Forest in second place with a day of voting still to go.

  17. Chris:
Thanks for your input. The MLS transfer scene is a bit complicated which is why I had them down as my last choice. But some late voting may swing things that way :) Also I said in my post I was open to suggestions other than the teams posted for voting. So….?

  18. Is there like a possibility of me starting a blog maybe? For fun? I’ve never done it before.

  19. Ravenie
    Sure, why not?

I’m a “guest” writer here, but I started off by going to this site and creating an account.

    https://www.blogger.com/start

I’ve never done one before until last December so you’ll have to play around with it a little to get used to all the functions/templates etc. That’s what I did.

Once you are up and running you can always let people know through any new post on this site.
