AFC Telford: November 2010

Not too great as weve been reduced to 2-3 subs a game! This could be a problem with the fitness coach so i’ll have to look into that.
Anyway lets get on with the all important games. Our first game of the month was away to on form York City. Despite our current injuries I felt that we could challenge and maybe come away with a hard-earned point.
i’d go as far to say that this was our best away performance of the season! We equaled and betterd York in some aspects of the game and maybe could of cmpleted the comeback to of gained 3 points but im happy with a draw. The game didnt get off to the best of starts as they scored a good goal in the 9th minute but i have to say that it was not the defences fault, the midfield gave up possession far too cheaply and didnt chase back. Things got worse as they scored 10 minutes later from a great ball in to the far post. Despite the 2 goal disadvantage i told the guys they were still in this and in the second half we came out fighting! We chased down every ball and there was some good attacking moves between the midfield and strikers. Our persistance and never give up attituded eventually forced one of their midfielders to go in 2 footed on Rhys McCacbe and earnt himself a red card. From then on we dominated and scored quickly after the sending off with a powerful header by Chris Nurse from a whipped cross by Craig king. Carl Martin the equalised with a volley following a corner. I was overjoyed as this game the lads looked like they wante to win which is much more encouraging!
After that great game we faced difficult opposition in the 1st round of the Fa Cup, Accrington away. A team who’d already beaten us 3-0 earlier in the season. I didnt have much hope for the game, but well give it our best shot.
Sorry guys I forgot the split view on this particurlar game! Not that it particurly matters as we were thouroughly outplayed again. I thought we could of performed better after such a great game against York. We kept the first half to only a 1-0 scoreline and looked like we could score. However our inability to convert gave them a 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute whcih put the game to bed really. Just as the game looked like it was ending a quick counter attack let them finish us off and put the socreline at 3-0.
After 3 away league games I was able to look forward to a home clash against winners of the BSN Droylsden. I was expecting us to win the game comfortably as they are struggling to get out of the bottom 6.
A very dominant performance and one of the best shooting performances of the season. Even though they had as many shots we were far more clinical and there defence couldnt cope. Craig King started the scoring with a simple tap in after a low ball in. We didnt hold the league long however and they pegged us bck on the 30th minute. Just before half-time, reserve player Calum Willock scored his first for the team (I called him up because of the current injury status). I encouraged the guys at half time and 3 minutes after the brek Craig King netted his second to give us a 2 goal advantage, it was a lovely goal aswell, a 25 yard placed shot into the top corner. Any doubt about the result was ended as Rhys McCabe went on a mzy run to beat 2 defenders and finish to put the end scoreline at 4-1. Overall a much better team performance.
There was a big chance to start a good run of form as we played another struggling team, Gateshead, at the New Bucks Head Stadium. Another good win would surely boost confidence hroughout the side and boost us up the table.
Another great performance, we certainly seem to perform well at home! The game was fairly even but once again our finishing was top-notch. Fresh from injury Danillo Rinaldi scored within 2 minutes with a placed shot into the corner of the net. No more chances came our way and Gateshead finsihed well to set the score to 1-1 going into half-time. I was confident of scoring again in the second half and top scorer Craig King scored once again in the 63rd minute to put as ahead. Danillo Rinaldi was really on form aswell, he was tackling back, amking fine crosses and, in the 70th minute, scored a screamer from 25 yards. The game was won after that and we held onto the lead well before the ref finally blew for full-time.
We still had 2 matches before the end of the month and the first was yet another away game against tough opposition Wrexham. We played them last season in the Fa Cup and matched them then, so I was hoping for another confident team display.
We really have picked up the pace this month! Another good away draw. I was very happy with the team as they kept out Wrexham well and didnt allow them to dominate the game. Altogether the match was very boring with no team really able to form good attacks. The defence did well on the day and didnt make any stupid errors to gift Wrexham a win.
With one game left of the month I felt we could easily end the month on a high, at home to Altricham. Who I think sat a few places behind us.
Yes a great end to our best month so far. The game didn’t start well for us however after a silly tackle by Daryl Westlake left one of their players flattened in the area and they finished from the spot to give them a great start to the game. 20 minutes later a deflected cross by Rhys Mcabe landed past their keeper to put us level. We went into half time drawing but I felt we could still win so I told them “they can win this game!” Altricham weren’t easy to break down however, they played very defensive and it was only from another corner that was Ryan Austin able to head home. Maybe a slightly harsh result on Altricham as they played well enough to draw, but i didnt care about them.
This was definately our best month with no losses in the league and we were able to pick up 11 points out of 5 games! Its a shame we couldn’t advance further in the Fa Cup as im sure the lads would of loved to play bigger opposition but oh well. Here’s the current league standings:-
Weve managed to move up 3 places so im very happy with that month. Im sure we could challenge for play-off spots if we play like we did!
My player of the month goes to San Marino interantional Danillo Rinaldi who plays as a Attacking Midfielder in our team. I picked him even though he was out for half the month with injury and international duty. He performed exceptionally in the last couple of games to get a couple of goals and assists.
Thanks for reading. Im hoping to post daily as im getting a bit too far ahead in my game comapredto my posts (I’ve almost finished my season!) Please comment!
