Muresul Deva 2009-2010 season review
Muresul Deva was a great adventure for me so far. We surpassed the expectations and the board is very proud of us. The race for the league title was hard, every loss counted. With U Cluj behind, who didn’t lose a game in their twenty-six last games, we couldn’t afford losing. The Romanian Cup went even better, we faced three big teams: FC Vaslyu, Ggloria Bistrita and Unirea Urziceni. A lucky victory with Vaslui made us go up, when we finally reached the semi-finals, we lost our first leg 0-6. Why? Because our two strikers, best midfielder , central defender and our goalkeeper were injured. Luck turned in our side, all our players recovered from their injuries and it turned back against Gloria. Seven of their first team players were injured! Including their goalkeeper. We scored six goals in the first half but they kept the score close in the second half. We finished with four wonderful back to back goals in the over-time. The final was against Unirea Urziceni, the Liga 1 holders. We held the 2-1 lead until the 90th minute when they got the dramatic equalizer. Our striker, Dedu, scored at 90+4. The cup was ours!
I am very proud of the achievement that the team managed to get. It was an impossible mission but having my aggressive hockey mentality, I managed to lead my team to victory! We will be facing hard teams next year, because winning the Romanian Cup gives us a chance of participating in the EURO Cup.
The pre-season will be very busy, I’ll try to get as many star players to try to get a good position in the Liga 1 and in the EURO Cup. My strikers will probably not change because they are good for Liga 1. I will have to tighten my defensive side of the pitch a little bit to be able to stop the Liga 1 striker.

I’ve Gotta Say Well Done Again For Bringing The Team That Was Predicted To Finish Last, Right Up To The Top League Of Romanian Football:)
Radu, Well done at acheiving a League and Cup double. Go Canada!!
Winning the second leg 10-0 that’s hilarious, what a comeback!
Good luck next season.
@Martin and Kevin
Thank you very much! I hope we’ll do a blast off in the Liga 1!
Radu
What formation are you playing? Did you have any longshot problems as was mentioned in Johnny’s comments section in the earlier post?
Great achievement there Radu, well done!
I used a 4-1-3-2 formation and I did not get any problems with it. But I switched to a 4-4-2 now because I think it’s better for Liga 1.
Thanks Radu, just arrived home from my 1 hour subway ride>
No problem Kev!
Great job there Radu, remarkable achievement to finish as champions and cup winner. I wish you well in Liga 1 and Euro cup.
@Lye
Thank you very much! Could you give me the link to your blog please? I remember you had one and want to check it out!

Well done Radu, I’m very curious to see your transfers now! Most of the Liga 1 sides are rather mediocre but you will have problems with the top six or seven, those are tough teams. Good luck!
Well done, and good results.
Radu, that’s an excellent season, getting promoted as champions and to win the cup too. The second leg of the cup semi final is amazing to score so many goals. Keep up the good work, and getting to play in the EURO Cup will be interesting for you. If you’re lucky you’ll draw some weak teams early on that you give a good beating to.
Ziggy, I think that as the Cup Winner the team will skip the preliminary rounds and go directly to the main competition where won’t be many weak teams left. I could be wrong though, Radu’s story will clarify this
Johnny, good chance you’re right about that. Never qualified for the EURO cup by winning the FA Cup. When I have won it, I’ve always managed to qualify for the Champions Cup.
