Notts County Second Season – The Grand Finale
| Tweet |
The last two games of the season didn’t matter anymore but the lads played well without any pressure on their shoulders.
Here’s how the final league table looked like. Coventry got promoted after the playoff, so we will get to meet them again in Coca-Cola Championship.
Now let me show you the player stats, sorted by the average rating. It’s quite clear that Szalai (31 goals and 14 assists) and Pekhart (31 goals and 18 assists) drove us forward this season, they did very well. The biggest disappointment was Nicolae Mitea, I expected a lot more from him and I don’t think that I’ll have the patience to wait, he will most probably be sold in July.
I will surely need to bring in some new players to face the tougher teams in Championship, the finances look pretty well at the end of the League One season.
My top priority for the new season is to improve the coaching staff, I will try to bring better coaches to the club in order to improve the training process. Then I will think about the players, I will definitely need a pair of good wingers, hard working lads that could do well in both parts of the game, in defense and in attack. You’ll know more about that in the next post, now I’ll enjoy the success a bit and prepare a good strategy for the transfers campaign.

Congratulations on gaining promotion! Fantastic win over Stockport too.Do you stay with the same tactic throughout the season and just tweak it occassionaly depending on the opposition?
Well done you are doing well again and good luck in the championship I will follow closley because I am off tell the 4th of jan!!!
@Eddie
Thanks mate, have a good holiday!
@Kevin
Thanks Kev. The tactic is still the 4-4-2 I published here but now I’m at version 2.6, I made a few minor tweaks. Yes, I used it throughout the season, the changes that I make from game to game are related to the opposition instructions.
Strange How The 2nd Place Team Still Got 104 Points !:O
Well Done On Winning It
I Think You Can Probably Get Promotion From The Championship
@Martin
Yeah, Huddersfield have a pretty strong team. I definitely hope to be able to get promoted to the Premier League but it surely will be tough.
Intersting, I should pay more attention to the pre match set up.
How do you go about chosing players when in the lower leagues especially as they maybe not well known. Do you use the filters looking at a particualar attribute(s) say for example stamina. Sorry for all the questions but your management skills are so intriguing
I’m about to start a game with Swindon Town !
@Kevin
Don’t worry, you can ask as many questions as you want, I don’t mind. If you have a good assistant manager you can try asking him to set up the opposition instructions, sometimes it works. I do use filters when searching for players. For example if I’m looking for a centre back I’ll set filters for heading, marking, anticipation, and so on. I also want centre backs with high pace and acceleration because I’m using a high defensive line. You also have to pay attention to the mental attributes like determination, they are pretty important too. I guess I should make a post about the most important attributes for every position… Good luck with Swindon, keep us up to date with your progress! And if you have questions please ask.
I actually set up a blog for Swindon, but I want to see how I do first before revealing it. LOL!
Congrats on getting the mighty pies into the championship. You had a very good season. I myself just missed out loosing on pens in the play-off final. I noticed that you only have Schmeichel left of the original team, how long do you think you will be able to keep him, as I have had offers from Juventus and Inter Milan trying to poach him.
Well done, expeirence will be key for the championship as there are some strong sides
@Sonny
Thanks for the advice mate.
@Madaboutpies
Thanks mate. I didn’t have any offers for Schmeichel so far, maybe if he does well this season there will be some interest for him. However, I’m quite satisfied with his contribution so I don’t think I’ll sell him unless there will be a very good offer. That’s too bad about the shootout loss, that always hurts. Good luck in the next season!
