That’s right, a new patch that fixes a lot of things in your Football Manager 2010 game, lots of fixes and improvements available. The most important improvement if you ask me is the reduced memory usage, that was an annoying issue so far. It will also be interesting to see if the changes will have some effect on the tactics we’re using, there are quite a few match engine changes that could make a difference.

You can find a complete list of fixes and improvements, as well as the download links, here.

  1. Hi

Do the facepacks you have uploaded on this site, still work ok with the new 10.2 patch ?

    Thanks

  2. Thanks Johnny

    will try it later

  3. can this patch work for Mac also?
    thanks! :)

  4. thanks! :)

  5. hey Johnny,

Long time reader, First time writer here.

Probably a silly question but i was just wondering if you have to restart your game when you install the patch?

    Thanks

    • Chris, you don’t have to restart the game, you can continue playing your old games. However, the new database of the latest patch won’t be “active” unless you start a new game.

  6. hi jonny, iv just down loaded latest patch for fm2010 wots the next stage, how do i put it into game?, thanx mate.

    • Richie, as far as I know the patch is an executable file, just run it and specify the where you installed the game, everything should work automatically. I have bought the game through Steam and in my case the patches get downloaded and installed automatically, I don’t have to do anything.

  7. ok thanks for that jonny, if i get game thru steam how to u add face packs etc?

  8. Hi Johnny, iv installed fm2010 via steam and it has put patch on for me thanx for that but im having trouble finding the fm2010 files to put face packs and logos on which i have down loaded please help me mate!

  9. Hi Johny,

first, thx for whole blog, I found it helpful and intersting.
I have a question for you, I downloaded Patch 10.2.0 and excuted it, however there is a message keeps poping up says ” no CD is found”, please note that I bought the game by downloading it from VIRGIN so no CD is availale in the first place.

Please help me since I don’t want to lose my so-far saving game.

    expecting your reply at earliest.

    THX,
    Moh’d

    • I don’t know anything about how the game is installed from Virgin, I’m clueless. Don’t they auto patch the game like Steam does? I guess you should ask Virgin about it or maybe ask in the SiGames forums, I really don’t know how to help you.

  10. THX Johnny anyway.

    Appreciate your quick reply.

  11. I installed the patch but i do not know where to put it, please help and thanks for the reply on the name fixes

    • Rian, please follow the guide on the official website on how to install the patch, I have my game through Steam so I didn’t install the patch, it was done automatically.

  12. hi johnny, havin a bit of bother gettin the stadium backgrounds to come up, id there something i have to do in settings because have tried evrythingelse?had no problem with pics on fm 09,.

  13. I know this is probably just a bad run of form, but is the game now harder?

  14. Jon definately the came isn’t harder try playing around with your tactics, formation and players until you find a good balance and then keep it the same for as long as you can!

  15. Ok cool, any news on when the next patch is out?

  16. I don’t know anything about a new patch but there probably will be one.

  17. Yes there will be a new patch out most likely after the transfer window closes. Source- http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?p=4451717#poststop

  18. i downloaded it , and when i update it gets to 710 updated files and it says ‘violation occured’

  19. From what I know that error occurs if you try to patch the game while it’s running, so try to close it before patching. I might be wrong though but it’s worth a try.

  20. I downloaded patch and started new game to set the database but it still isnt having any effect on my game. What should i do?

  21. Dunno, i think i did but remind me how, brains gone blank today!

    • I bought my game through Steam and I don’t need to download or install the patches, they are done automatically. But if you said you downloaded the patch then I think it’s an executable file you have to run like any other installer, just double click it and it will tell you what to do next.

  22. Ok thanks for your help

  23. Johnny, do you play Football Manager often? Are you good and who do you manage?

  24. Alex, This Is His Blog And He Manages Notts Co And He’s In The Premiership, If You Didn’t Notice
    :P

  25. oh yeah, told you my brains gone blank!

  26. Lol Alex your just too funny!

  27. Where do you put the patch

  28. @Rian
You have to download it and install it, it’s an executable file.

  29. are backgrounds working now?in latest patch…

  30. can some one plz help me with the guide for patching fm 2010. and continue playing the already save game without creating a new game.need hint and precautions to installing the patch to a success.

  31. hi

    can anyone help

downloaded game on my mac and then downloaded the newest patch. game loads but then says it can’t find an available database and that my installation may be corrupt.

    can anyone help?

    thanks

  32. @Will
Sorry mate, I never played the game on a Mac so I don’t really know much about the installation on your operating system. You could try to reinstall the game or the patch and see if that solves anything.
