Premier League predictions contest

Hello my friends, this will be, as the title says, a post about birthdays. That’s right, birthdays, now I have two of them to celebrate in December… First there is my own birthday on the 23rd of December, that was yesterday. But the most important one is this website’s birthday, it all started last year on the 28th of December

A whole year has gone by and the blog became part of my daily life. Thanks to you now there are 180 posts published and 1320 comments here, I never thought that I would get to meet so many nice people through this blog. I tried to share my passion for the game with you, did my best to write good interesting stuff and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such an active and helpful audience.

Now I can tell you for sure that this blog is here to stay, no question about that! And I will be doing whatever I can to make it better for you. As a matter of fact I’m sure that it can only get better with your help, so if you have any suggestions or ideas about what you would like to be implemented here please don’t be shy, share them with me.

I am going away for a couple of days so I won’t be able to reply to your comments right away but I would be happy to see many interesting ideas posted here when I’ll get back ;) It has been a wonderful year for me and you, my friends, are a big part of it. Thank you again for your passion and commitment.

Best wishes,

Johnny Karp

season greetings

    Happy birthday for both of you! And enjoy eating your sarmale and cozonac, it’s al I’ve been eating in the last two days!

    About the suggestions, you could make a section for tactics or any Fotball Manager help where people ask questions and you, or other people, answer to help people. Also, I see that your forums aren’t really going well… I would suggest removing them or actually getting into it by advertising for them and naming staff and moderators to help you run it. Last thing, why not make your saved games, from the stories that have been done already, avaible for downloads. I’m sure that people would love to see the pieces of wonderful work you did with Chester and Blyth. (Yes, Chester’s game cannot be loaded.)

    Other than that, good luck in your further adventures both in life and in the one and only, Football Manager!

  9. Kevin says:

    Agree with Radu about the forums where there is little activity which is a shame. Perhaps have a comments and suggestions field right on your home page which could be about tactics, how people approach the game when first starting or a new season. Generally a place where we can share ideas or ask questions that are kept seperate from your Notts County project. I use a program called Microsoft Sharepoint at work which is great for sharing files or even open discussions. Of course being for the most part technically challenged I’d have no idea how you would implement this. LOL!

      Thanks a lot to all of you for the kind words and wishes, I promise I’ll do my best to keep this blog interesting and alive.
      @Radu
      The saved games were available to download, I remember putting them up after each season. I agree about the forum, I hoped it would be more active. I started it to give the readers an opportunity to share their views and tactics easily but it seems that it doesn’t work, there are so many good FM forums and I guess there’s no need for another one. I guess I’ll just close it down sooner or later.
      @Kevin
      You know that I always try to help people and reply to each comment, the forum was supposed to help with the separation you were talking about. People can also always contact me directly through the contact form in the about page, I think Sharepoint is not a solution for me. I have a few other ideas, I will tell you more about them in a few days :)

  11. Kevin says:

    I think actually this site is way better than any site/forum I’ve visited.It’s definitely more inspirational and the comments are clean.Too many other sites/forums degrade to swearing after a while and accusations of cheating.That’s the way I see it anyways. Look forward to your new ideas.

    I’m staying here!

      Thanks for the kind words Kevin. Anyway, a blog is a bit different than a forum, it relies on an author that posts new stuff, the forum relies on its members. That’s why I said that with all the forums that are available a new one doesn’t seem to be a good idea. I didn’t want the forum to become big, I just wanted it to be a place where the readers of the blog could share their experiences and opinions.

    Didnt Get Football Manager But Got 160Euro (I Live In Ireland Lol)
    So I Might Buy It If My Mum Lets Me :L :P
    Im Always On FM09

  13. Martin says:

    Yeah She Probably Will
    I Know But Im Gonna Get Assassins Creed For My PS3 Too :D

  14. Radu Raicea says:

    But to be honest Johnny, people share their experience through their own blogs or comments… The forum was a good intention but let’s face it, why having two different things opened (blog and forum) when you could actually post a comment with your question or whatever you want to share on the blog?

    La multi ani! :)
