Here we go my friends, it’s time for a new story and for a new game, Football Manager 2010! After the great success that I achieved with the Blyth Spartans in Football Manager 2009 I’m finally ready to test the new game and maybe produce a better story than the previous ones. fm 2012 icon smile

First I selected the country, which is England. Then the database size, large, and also set the game to load all Romanian players fm 2012 icon smile

Want to know the club I chose, don’t you? I’ll tell you in a moment, I had to create my profile first…

And now… the team! It’s Notts County, the oldest professional football club in the whole world! They play in League Two now, you can find out more interesting things about their history here. The challenge will be to take this club to the top, to the Premier League and to eternal European fame and glory!

The club’s biggest achievement was a 3rd place in the Premier League, but that was a long time ago, back in… 1891!

The club’s only important trophy is the FA Cup, won back in 1894! Now it’s time for that to change, I’ll do my best to bring glory to The Magpies again!

Now let’s get back to this century… They tell me that the squad is one of the best in League Two but I think, like my assistant does, that the defensive line is too weak.

The board expect the team to get promoted and although they are prepared to spend a nice amount on transfers it will be tough. It’s a new game for me and I won’t have any time to get settled, they want results immediately and I think they will sack me without regrets if I fail to produce results…

Anyway, let me present the best players in the team.

Kasper SchmeichelGoalkeeper

fm 2012 7 kasper schmeichel 500x167

He’s a promising lad, quite talented. I wish he was a bit quicker but I guess he will be defending our goal this season.

Brendan MoloneyRight Back

fm 2012 8 brendan moloney 500x168

He is on loan from our rivals, Nottingham Forest. For now he’s the best defender in the squad, so I’ll try to keep him for the whole season.

Ben Davies – Central Midfielder / Left Winger

fm 2012 9 ben davies 500x166

He’s one of my favorite players in the team so far, creative, versatile and experienced. I think that he will be an essential player for us throughout the season.

Ronnie JacksonCentral Midfielder

fm 2012 10 ronnie jackson 500x167

He will be the workhorse in the middle of the pitch, the player who has to tackle and get the ball back. He won’t be a superstar but I hope he will do the job well.

Karl HawleyTarget Striker

fm 2012 11 karl hawley 500x167

He’s a strong lad, he will have to hold onto the ball and make the team go forward. And maybe score a few goals once in a while fm 2012 icon smile

Ade AkinbiyiPoacher

fm 2012 12 ade akinbiyi 500x168

He’s the most experienced player in the team, he scored a lot of goals until now in his career. He isn’t young anymore but I hope he will be able to play one last great season.

The only promising youngster that I found in the under 18 team is 15 year old striker Michael Morley, he might have what it takes to become a good player. Akinbiyi is his tutor now, I hope he will learn a few tricks fast.

Now I’ll have to begin browsing through the transfer market, we desperately need a centre back, a left back, a pair of wingers and maybe a central midfielder or two. Any suggestions?

I already asked the board to find a parent club so that we will have easy access to get some good players on loan.

The stadium, Meadow Lane, looks pretty nice, doesn’t it! I hope that I’ll be able to bring some really great opponents to play here, onward to the Premier League! It will be a long journey and I hope you will support me and read the story. I’ll be back with a new post about the transfers, friendly games and the tactic I’m going to use, stay tuned!

  1. Really interesting club…
I wish you good luck with them..
btw i have a talented goalkeeper in my Brentford team and how to put that older my first team goalkeeper tutor him..??
I’m happy because i will publish you first comment for your new Fm story .. =)

    • Thanks Goran, I wish you good luck with Brentford! About the tutoring, I did that from the backroom staff advice screen, one of the coaches recommended that the player should be tutored by the other player and there was a button to make that action. There should be another way too, like there was in FM 2009, through the player interaction screen or something.

  2. Good luck with notts county I am sure that you will do well with them.

  3. Interesting choice Johnny! Especially so because I am currently studying in Bournemouth. They are the side who in real life are top of the league at the moment. Hope you do well! (I’m sure you will)

    • Thanks for the comment Ubisoka. That’s what I liked about the challenge, the pressure to get immediate results without being familiar with all the aspects of the new FM 10. Hopefully I’ll adapt quickly ;)

  4. Hi Johnny, finally your new FM2010 story starts. I am sure you have no problem in gaining promotion as you have an eye for scouting talents. Does your game have styfo(think my spelling is wrong) Soley, he is a central defender/defensive midfielder, his attributes is quite high in my game maybe you can consider signing him.

  5. Wahey the man is back…watch out Fergie and Wenger get your excuses ready cos your backsides are about to be kicked.

    Good luck matey

  6. Forgot to mention, is that the same facepack as you used in 09?

    • Not quite Dave, it’s made by the same people, slightly improved. I will publish a post and download link for the facepack as soon as possible. And thanks, Wenger seems to be shivering already :)

  7. Im managing notts county aswell and i got R.Shroot from birmingham and hes been my best player so far.
