Notts County FM 2010 Story – January 2010

The first game of the year was the FA Cup 3rd round clash with Premier League side Bolton, a game that nobody expected us to win. 14000 fans came to see my boys battling against a far superior opponent and the lads fought well. But it wasn’t enough, Bolton kept the game under control and scored just one goal, enough to get through the next round. We put on a decent display and maybe with a bit of luck we could have hoped for more.
We were out of all cup competitions, now we could focus on the remaining part of the League Two season. The first league game of the year was away at 12th placed Dag & Red, a team that we defeated 2-1 in August. It was even easier this time, we controlled the game with ease and won it without any trouble at all.
The next game was at home with 23rd placed Macclesfield, one of the weakest teams in the league. We defeated them 5-1 in August and I expected a similar outcome again. The team played well and showed solid finishing, new signings Andreev and Tinga scored their first goals for the club with well placed shots.
After that comforting win we had a more difficult game coming up, away at 16th placed Bradford. We won the home game against them 2-1 back in August but this time luck wasn’t on our side. A wild cross hit the woodwork in the 11th minute and bounced into the back of the net after hitting Skerla in the back… We created a few chances to score after that unfortunate event but we missed too many of them, quite frustrating. We scored just one goal eventually and we kept our unbeaten record.
The next game was at home with 19th placed Chesterfield, a team that we managed to beat 5-2 away from home in August. We didn’t play as well this time though, we allowed Chesterfield to create a few chances to score and only Schmeichel‘s ability gave us a 0-0 draw at the break. We played a bit better in the second half but we wasted most of the attacks due to a terrible lack of precision upfront.

You have made some good signings there mate, i don’t know most of the players but i am very familiar with Sean Morrison. He was my captain in my Vauxhall game in FM09 and played for me for 10 seasons. I can say he is quite reliable and can play all the way to championship, i hope he develops well in your game. Well i predict you will gain promotion probably in March based on your form. Keep it up..
Thanks for the comment Lye, I hope Morrison could do well indeed, he might have what it takes to stick around a few seasons.
@Lye
Btw, I tried to post a comment on your blog today and it doesn’t work, maybe you should check that.
Well done I am sure you can stay unbeaten for the rest of the season.
Thanks Eddie. We’ll probably have some motivation problems when promotion will be already in the bag but I hope I’ll be able to overcome those issues.
name of skin do you use?
plz
and good work
@Ze Miguel
The skin is called “Vitreous”.
Thanks Johnny for the information. I had fixed it.
Hey Johnny, some good signings, you have a large squad now.
Tinga is an interesting player, I didn’t thought he could sign for a league 2 team, but probably Eriksson helped to raise your team reputation.
I know Andreev well, cause I bought him for my Peterborough side, he scored 2 key goals for my promotion this season.
I need to say that you have bought Andreev on steroids…my own version has only finishing=11!!
But has better mental skills, probably.
Well done.
Thanks for the comment Paine. The team’s reputation seems to be good indeed, I was surprised that right back Dananae accepted to sign, he’s a fresh Romanian international that has good prospects right now, he’s targeted by PSV Eindhoven in real life. Andreev is a talented striker, I have high hopes about him.
some good players there how much did you get in jan mate
Thanks Graig. I had around 2 million euro to spend if I remember correctly.
